Air Canada Airbus A220-300 INAUGURAL FLIGHT! Calgary to Montreal

On January 16th, Air Canada flew the first revenue flights of their new Airbus A220-300, and I was on board the first flight from Calgary to Montreal!

Air Canada ordered 45 of the A220-300 variant in 2016 with options for an additional 30 aircraft. Back then, the program was still known as the Bombardier CSeries, before its much-discussed sale to Airbus in 2018.

Air Canada was, however, the first North American airline to place orders for the aircraft, so it’s understandably a pretty big deal for them to finally launch revenue flights.

See what I thought of Air Canada's new bird on its first day of operations!

I can’t say it enough: the C-Series is one of the best plane design we’ve had in a long time. Quiet, efficient, good looking and roomy from what I’ve seen! This summer I’ll be flying it with Swiss, and then in the fall likely with AC or Delta.

Two things I wish was there: the “loo with a view”, and the C-Series welcome mat. I am glad Airbus came to support, but I wish some of the original touches had been kept in place...

Thanks Alex for the video, I am really looking forward to my first flight onboard!

The A220/CSeries is one of the best looking aircraft I have ever seen. Fantastic trip report, as always!

Although I am not a big fan of the AC Raccoon painting around the front windshield, I love this aircraft.
Too bad AC opted out of the lavatory window, which is another signature spec for the model.
As a Canadian, this plane is and will always be a Bombardier to me.

Thanks Alex

It was noticable how quiet this airplane is, and those efficient Prat Whitney engines. I first became aware of Bombardier's plane when Porter Airlines wanted to get Toronto to approve them for the Island Airport, because of how quiet they where on the exterior, and complement the turboprops. Full props for the Canadian air industry, although again a company couldn't do it financially and sold to Airbus. Can't wait until i set foot in an A220. Great video.

1:45 Look at that slick-looking machine! I think I will still know it as the Bombardier C-series. Though, I am glad Airbus got it and bringing some competition to Boeing.

Cancel the rest of the MAX's on order immediately, and convert all the A220 options into firm orders.

Flew on this bird with airBaltic around europe. The best flight experience in a long time. Bombardier did Canada proud with the cs series.

Brilliant video and I very much enjoyed the A220-300 flights from the trio of reporters You, Veulogs, and ITripReport! I hope to fly the A220 sometime as well.

Great Video Alex, nicely put together. The seat width looks to make a huge difference. The IFE screens look amazing too, just a shame Air Canada never opted for the window toilets.
