1:51 Instructor didn't allow them to go wide - that's why he used the brake. The instructor is not responsible for the failure of the bike to stop in time. Hopefully, they learnt a lesson about following distances and assumptions.

Hector B at 1:35, you could have prevented your accident by having a little patience and letting the van do its thing instead of passing aggressively and unnecessarily on the right. Next time slow down and have a bit more patience.

Edit: I bet a lawyer could make the argument that the double lane doesn’t start until after the intersection so the van had the whole lane and you illegally passed on the right.

Incorrect. At the point of the collision it is a single lane. It becomes two lanes up ahead where the solid white line begins. Cammer made an improper pass within the same lane.
