Best Line: “If a fish is gonna eat a fly this big, he probably doesn’t care what it’s attached to. He just wants to kill it.”

Question: when you’re Tenkara fishing the South Platte what size midge do you use? Actually thanks for the information. Makes sense.

Great job Ben, I really think you need to do a video on the best type of beer to drink for specific types of fishing.... And "cold" beer doesn't count.

Thanks man, I usually fish a 5x leader but think I'll go to a 4x and get a size 12 hook on it then to a 5 or 6x to get a 16 or smaller hook on. Trout guy, Big Thompson and Poudre.

A friend of me and I was fishing this river a few years ago, stalking big browns on small dryflies. He had a 6x tippet on and suddenly decided to change to a streamer, a size 4 Wooly Bugger. He hooked a trout that was probably around 6-8 lbs, he managed to fight it for a little while before it snagged. Both fly and trophy trout went bye-bye. I left him there, and rumours have it that he's still walking the woods looking for me while wondering where it all went wrong.

Love your videos man. You are hilarious and informational!

Totally on point; great video! Stronger tippet can also help lower fish mortality, if you're releasing them.
Just woke up and watched this, so if I missed you saying this in your vid already, feel free to mock me.

Can you make a video on rods? Like why have rods with different stiffness, lengths, etc. What kind of rods do you use in different situations?

Ben, love your videos. I try to be a bit of a minimalist and only take the essentials with me. How about doing a video on guys that wear too much gear in the water? You could probably have fun with that one. Thanks.

Thanks Ben for another great video. My adjustment for tying on a reasonably larger fly without changing to a heavier leader & tippet is to tie a double-clinch knot (i.e. two loops through the fly eye), which creates a little more friction at the hook eye. Not sure if anyone uses this knot in the fly world... Any thoughts on this technique? Application is trout.
