This is why I like cassette fly reels . I can have a float, sink tip, slow and fast Intermediate, slow sink, medium and fast sink lines, and different weights and it saves me a fortune in spare spools .

My question is, though: how can you gauge fly line that comes loaded on second hand reels, that have no indication of the gauge? I have a number of such loaded reels, and, being a total novice, have no idea on how to # the lines. Regards. Ray

Hey there. I'm from Northern Ontario, I was wondering if there was a line that would give me decent coverage for the fish I'll be going for. I'll be going for smallmouth, walleye, lake trout (early spring), northern pike and muskies. Is there a line that would be okay for use on those species?
