Orange County deputy found slumped over in car arrested on DUI charge

An Orange County deputy was arrested while he was off duty Saturday morning by St. Cloud police on DUI charges, according to the sheriff’s office. Police said John Guzman, 29, was asleep behind the wheel with the vehicle in drive, and his foot was still on the brake.

I had something similar happen and thankfully their very first question was “do you have a health condition” before assuming I was intoxicated. I’m type 1 diabetic wasn’t aware I had went into renal failure. Was desperately trying to get down the road to get a milkshake thinking it would help. By the time they got me to the hospital my sugar was so low I should’ve been in a coma. Was a rough week. I’ve seen a video of a man in the same situation though and they pepper sprayed him bc he was semi unresponsive. Scares me. I haven’t driven since honestly.

Paramedics are trained that the first 2 tests you do to an unconscious person is a glucose for diabetics and ecg for heart attacks.
I think police should know this too.

During Covid my friend ( Police Officer) had to work almost 9 months straight. They were so short staffed . I did this for 4 years and yes you see some f up things . I choose to get out. Hopefully this man gets better. Prayers.

They need to always assume it’s possibly a diabetic issue because low blood sugar or high can make them have the same mannerisms as a drink person but often you can smell the alcohol
