Reading all these comments it helps to know im not the only nervous driver out there and there are drivers feeling just as anxious as i am.

Learning to drive should not be a pain.

The reason i was nervous, was because my "instructor" was downright patronising and negative...

I remember, one time, when i changed from 3rd to 4th gear a bit too early, my instructor yelled at me "cmon stop making these same bloody mistakes" and goes on to say "i know no one is perfect"...

If you so happen to have a bad instructor, FIND ANOTHER ONE ASAP.

I'm fine but as soon as a cars behind me i freak out completely and can't focus. Then I think, if i can't handle one car behind me how the hell am i going to handle being in traffic or a busy road. I can't drive for more than 20 minutes atm.

This women is so informative everything she said happened to me. I get so nervous, then coz I’m thinking about it I End Up making further fault then as a result I start getting more nervous and my body feels funny and my legs feels like jelly. So I will stop thinking about getting nervous and have the mindset that if I fail I fail if I pass i pass it was meant to be.

I passed my test 3months ago, bought my car yesterday and drove today, honestly the only thing that makes me nervous is a car behind me 😂😂, but I spoke to my cousin about it and he said as long as you're driving safely and within the speed limit don't let the driver behind you make you nervous, just put on your radio/music and don't give a crap about them

For some, driving on their own for the first time can often make them feel like they’ve been thrown straight in at the deep end, so I think this video will help them out a LOT.

Have had a moment like this. Was front of a queue behind slow moving vehicle on fast road. Was a while before I got my chance to get around. Didn't look in my mirror early enough and low and behold I'm nearly on the other side of the road accelerating and I spot a van which got fed up in the queue steaming up behind me. I pulled back in quick to let him pass without jamming on his brakes and no harm done. But it played on my mind not checking the mirror right and I knew I'd lost concentration on the task of driving so found a safe spot to pull in. No harm or shame in pulling over to regain your composure. Safer than driving distracted.

I got my license 5 months ago and I felt good and was very confident in my driving then after getting my license I started to get really nervous driving on main roads and only stick to nearby small areas, I drive safe it's just I get really nervous when being put in a situation on the road that I don't know how to handle, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one feeling this way

I get nervous on fast roads. I'm perfectly fine going at 40/50, but if I have to drive on a fast A road it takes a while to adjust. I think it's down to the mentality of *if* I crash it'll be worse if I'm going faster. I think it's also down to having vehicles around me/alongside me which I've always struggled with even before driving, as I have an irrational fear they're going to change lanes without seeing me. I'm a lot better than I used to be but it's still a problem sometimes.

I think these videos should be government funded. They are a genuine service to the community.

Great videos. It proves that just because you passed your driving test doesn't always mean that you are actually ready to drive all by your self. When I first started driving by my self, i felt like a young lion thrown out of his nest who had to go find his own way and chase by him self for the first time in the jungle. Driving is unpredictable like the jungle is. Lol.

“Regain your confidence” I didn’t have confidence to begin with.

What about if you have an instructor that criticises you after a mistake and goes on a bit then you make more errors?

Even though I'm currently learning my anxiety gets worse when I see something bad on the road. For example people on their phone, tailgaters or cars going way too fast! These sorts of things make me a nervous wreck and I start over thinking about what could happen.

You guys are absolutely wonderful literally you have covered everything to do with driving and I’m glad I’ve just found this because this is the trouble with me in the car am anxious like I’m constantly ready for something bad to happen a see it lot with hesitation and as someone who suffers with bipolar disorder and in recovery this has been the biggest challenge of my life and want to achieve something confidence nerves and anxiety is my main problem my instructor is constantly having to remind me to relax in the car and it’s a worry when I’m actually on test this is my fifth attempt in thinking gosh it’s only me in control thank you guys because it’s just faith in myself I need and I’ll regularly watch this one as a reminder even before a lesson
