I love all those Ethiopian orthodox Crosses behind you.

I have a sort of triune prayer practice at the moment: the Litany of the Hours (morning, evening, and night prayer minimum. I also strive to get a daytime hour in as well), the rosary daily (even a single decade), and the Jesus prayer. As a new Christian, this has been powerfully transformative for me

Thanks for explaining it father. I’m new to orthodoxy and I thought the prayer rope was only for the Jesus prayer 🙏🏾

Oh, I hold it in my right and make the sign of the cross with it. I am a protestant convert who was never taught how to use the prayer rope but picked it up by watching and talking to other pious Orthodox.

Also my prayer rope has a cross on it so i kind of feel like i am blessings my self with a cross.

The Jesus Prayer is strength and grace for the Orthodox Christian.

Through it, Orthodox draw closer to Jesus.

Humility, Grace, Strength

In the Jesus Prayer, the Christian is made aware of 2 things...
Who God is
Who We are

The Jesus Prayer is a weapon, a shield
A protection

" Jesus, Son Of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner!"

We are called to pray without ceasing.

Thank you father, I didn’t realize that it was meant to be held in the left hand!

Very interesting! I’d like to ask if, myself as a Protestant, can use the prayer rope to help structure my prayer life with Jesus. Thank you!

Great video. New to Orthodoxy and I noticed your bottom cross member part of the cross is straight and not slanted. Is there a reason for that? Thank you and May God bless them big time

Question: When i bless myself, can touch the left shoulder before the right? Or should i specifically touch the right shoulder then the left? - I ask, because i have mostly done it "left shoulder first - then the right...Mostly without thinking...Thank You, and God bless!

I’ve heard different things. Does it matter where you get your prayer rope from. It’s hard to find in any shops near me. So I ordered online and realized they are made it china. I’ve heard that when they are made the crafter should be saying the Jesus prayer after making each knot. I’m wondering if I should return mine and spend a little more for authentic one

I think the Bible teaches we are declared righteous in God's sight by the atoning blood of Jesus. Then, if we sin thereafter we ask for forgiveness. And we are forgiven. I think that is an important distinction to make so people don't get discouraged and think there is no escape for the "sinner" status. After accepting Christ we are declared righteous (Colossians.)
