Morning and Evening Prayer Rule (Pencils & Prayer Ropes)

preview_player
Показать описание
All pious Orthodox Christians have a prayer rule, more specifically, morning and evening prayer rule, a set of prayers we say, or read or do with our prayer ropes on a regular basis. In this video we go over what do they contain, how to approach them and what to discuss with your spiritual father.

As my spiritual father once told me, "God doesn't hear prayers that we don't hear ourselves".

God bless. Thank you for the video!

Word of warning: learn the level of smoke your smoke detectors can tolerate before using a censer to avoid setting off alarms to the fire department to avoid an awkward and embarrassing situation (now I use a smokeless burner 😅).

An Orthodox youth club I attended played one of your videos to all the kids.
It was a heart-warming sight to see.
A flicker of light in a dark world beriddled with sin.

I recently watched a Priest, who was visiting Saint Innocent Orthodox Church, not to beat one self up, if you skip your prayer rule.
It is better to skip the prayer rule, than to take it as a burden that one must do.
Instead, say the Jesus prayer several times.
Glory to Jesus Christ!

It's beautiful when your kids start pushing you to do evening prayers (because sometimes it is hard with kids) and actually delight in it.

Please when you pray, please ask God to help us who are interested in orthodox church, from a protestant.

Thank you. I'm an un-protestant Protestant a situation where even my wife argues against the OC. Constantly badgered by the Ecumenism spirit, this clip is an awesome base to show those who watch it. Thank you.

im catholic, but this is helpful. My daily prayers usually consist of Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, St michael, Guardian angel as soon as i wake up, then pray before meals and after if i remember, then rosary 🙏🏼 there’s always some reason to pray and i use that as motivation

Love the intro. I use this reason in my (Roman Catholic) classes to catechize my students into regular daily & throughout the day prayer habits.

I find comfort in repetition and prayer rolls, but I'm hesitant on translating "βατταλογέω" as "babbling". The root word is βαττας, which is related to two things - Battus, the king of Cyrene, who had a stutter, as well as Battus, who was famous in the ancient world for tedious and wordy poems. In both situations, the word itself represents an overabundance of speech, not disordered speech.

I appreciate the Orthodox response to this, of course, in that the purpose is not to be heard due to the many words, but rather the effect they might have on the human heart. However, a faulty translation is fertile ground for rebuke.
