This makes so much sense now. They both got into the Academy, but Rika really wasn’t fighting for Satoko the way Satoko is fighting for Rika. Satoko is struggling to stay in the academy, and you would think Rika would truly notice how Satoko was feeling, and would ditch those others girls, and tell them she needs to spend time with Satoko, but Rika never once did that. Rika made a promise to Satoko that she would spend her time in the Academy with her, and that they would enjoy it together, but it looks like Rika is enjoying herself without Satoko while Satoko is miserable without Rika which probably causes Lambdadelta to give her the power to keep Rika/Bernkastel in the same timeline on purpose. We’ve noticed that when Rika accepts that she wants to stay the loops stop until Lamdadelta interferes with yet another timeline, but reveals herself in episode 17 after Bernakastel (Deep Rika voice) calls her out on her shit. This is starting to all make sense now because Satoko did all of this for Rika, but Rika should know when her friend is hurting just like how Satoko can see through Rika’s feelings. The better friend here was clearly Satoko, and I understand why she said all that stuff while pulling Rika’s organs out, she didn’t want Rika to leave her, and that’s exactly what she did in this timeline she was losing her best friend which caused Satoko to finally snap.

Wow I've never ever seen Satoko like this before. Shit is definitely about to go down and things are only gonna get deadlier. She's definitely the blonde chick that we keep seeing in the intro that constantly loosens up her tie. You know I think Satoko might be a yandere for Rika. P.S. I love that despite leaving Hinamizawa and being at St.Lucia Academy now you can still hear the haunting sounds of the cicadas. They truly add the creep factor to an already creepy scene and they just give you the absolute chills right up your spine. Higurashi just wouldn't be Higurashi without the good ol cicadas after all and I'm glad that they decided to have them attend St.Lucia Academy too. 😰😰😰

Rika failed a spot check with Satoko big time in the post kai timeline, though Satoko shares a decent portion of blame as well.

Though all the catalyst for the syndrome/Yandere mode to crop up were all there with high stress & progressing abandonment feelings.

It's crazy how a couple episodes before episode 17 were basically hinting that Satoko was behind all of this from the start now that I rewatched a few episodes. For example, Episode 15, if you look at Satoko laying on the ground before keiichi bashed Rena's head in, you'll see that she was not bleeding anywhere at all. Sure you can say that she had blood on her, but they were only a couple of blood spots and splatters. She was not bleeding out at all. Most likely laying still so Keiichi wouldn't kill her.

Incident with Ooishi in episode 14. This is another example of evidence. Now this may be a stretch, but I believe Satoko may have lured Ooishi to her house and possibly injected him with the Hinamizawa Syndrome. I know Rena stated that Mion, Shion, and Rika along with Satoko died, but if you look back at it, we only see Mion, Shion and Rena's death. Satoko arrived to the we didn't see her get killed like Rena stated.

Also this is unrelated to Satoko but I think I know who killed Rika during the arc where Mion receives the doll from Keiichi. Remember that shed Keiichi tried to open but soon discovered that it was locked? Mion is the culprit. Why?

Look back at episode 14 when they were all playing hide and seek in an attempt to find Rika (who was planning on doing you know what), we see Mion check the shed to see if Rika was there, but guess what, surprise surprise, she has the keys to unlock the door. Once again, this may be a stretch, but I don't think it's a coincidence. Remember, in that same episode, Rika mentions to Hanyuu that she doesn't remember how she died in that world. Then fast forward to hide and seek, Mion goes straight to the shed and unlocks it with the keys she had in her back pocket.
Another thing to add, Mion was acting out of the ordinary that same exact episode when Keiichi discovered the locked shed.

One very final last thing. Episode 19 now explains why we see Satoko in the shrine in the Opening song.

As a fan of the original series (for over ten years) I always only saw Rika and Satoko as best friends / sisters. But now I feel like MAYBE they are going to end up like Bernkastel and Lambdadelta. Rika was giving off bern vibes to me this episode.... I kinda hope they stick to a familial relationship.... (only because that's what I'm used to and don't like CHANGE hahaha) I HAVE been getting vibes that feel like there's romantic undertones. Has anyone else felt this? I don't know if romance is what they are going for ---- it could just be I've never shipped them but I sense.... shippiness....

I was so happy how the last few episodes have turned out. Its getting better and better. I wasn't enjoying Gou until it got redeemed by episode 16. This is what I wanted for this series if it had a sequel. I just wish it was more of teen age Rika and Satoko instead of more of the same that we've already seen. I was getting bored by Curse Deceiving / Tataridamashi. I really hope the last batch of episodes aren't rushed.
