The LAST Smart Phone with a Removable Battery

The LAST Smart Phone with a Removable Battery.
Virtually all cell phones sold today don't have a removable battery. There are 2 reasons for this. One the cell phone battery only lasts about 2 years, so when the battery wears out and no longer holds a good charge, you are forced to upgrade to a new cell phone. Second, not being able to remove the battery could cause the phone to still activate certain built-in features without the user's knowledge, such as location tracking or the microphone. The excuse the cell phone companies give for not having a replaceable battery is they claim the non-replaceable cell phone battery allows for a slimmer cell phone design. But obviously this is not true as smart cell phones with replaceable batteries have very slim designs also. Most cell phone consumers would definitely want the ability to replace the battery in their cell phone, if the battery is no longer holding a good charge.

LG V20 has a removable battery. The non-removable battery is all about profit. They know very well that the Lithium ion battery has an average life span of 2 years, and now apple has been caught deliberately slowing down older phones to force you to buy new ones. It's quite disgusting actually, but I don't buy apple products or other phones that follow Apple's practices. Samsung used to be good, but they're turning into Apple. LG still For now.

No one asks us what we want anymore they now tell us what we want. If I ran a smartphone company I would use the removable/replacement battery as a selling point because people still want it we are not all snobby iPhone users

Your absolutely right, they don't want you to be able to remove the battery because they want you always connected, always trackable !!!

Lol it's not to track you, it's to force you to buy a new phone when your battery craps out after 2 years.

Samsung Note 4. The best smartphone made to date and it has a removable battery.

In a few days, I will have my new Tracfone Stylo 3 (Not the plus model) and one big reason I bought it is because it has a removable battery. I don't care if they make smartphones that are as thin as a credit smartphones of today with removable batteries are thin enough to be practical for carrying. The electronics industry never asks the consumer anymore what they want.

The biggest mistake LG did was stop making premium smart phones with removable batteries! If the LG-20 had an OLED display, it would have been the biggest seller in the industry & LG wouldn't have to join the greedy manufacturers bandwagon ripping off the consumer with planned obsolescence every 2 years when the battery dies!!!

I've a Samsung J7 with a removable battery, the best phone I've ever had, I don't worry about the battery losing charge coz they're very cheap on Ebay

I saw a youtube video of the LG v30. When the phone was opened, the so-called non-removable battery looked just as big as the LG v20's.

I've come to the firm, unwavering conclusion that I no longer wish to pay lots of good money for a phone that will only last me about 2 years JUST BECAUSE IT'S NOT POSSIBLE TO EASILY SWAP A BATTERY. Fuck these manufacturers with their 'sealed-in battery' bullshit.

I have a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music - it's ancient and it's utterly crap as far as 'smartphone' tech goes, but it's got a swappable battery AND they're only about £5 each.

Newer smartphones need swappable and highly affordable batteries. Why should ANYONE have to be dictated to how long they should have their phone that they paid GOOD money for?!

One of the problems with older phones is that the manufacturer eventually stops providing OS updates for their older models. Once you aren't on a recent OS, some of the apps will no longer function. You then must update the app, but the app won't install onto an older OS. It's a Catch-22. Even the voice and data frequency bands change, which means you may have limited voice or data access in some areas or none at all. I think the real solution is to have a case for your phone, similar to a glasses case. It could have two pockets inside, on pocket is just surrounded with leather, plastic or cloth and it allows the phone to stay connected to the world. The other pocket would be lined with a metallic material that will block RF access to the outside world.

LG are tough. I do construction and dropped it one time about 12 ft on rocks. Cracked the screen to shit. About 70 percent visibility. Still worked. Dropped several times before that"hands to ground". Even cheaper model than you have. Should last you a while.

They do everything to make it hard to Root - and take the battery option away and the SD Micro card and.... Well...
I got the V20 and had it for nearly a year - had to order it from Hong Kong as it was not sold in Europe.

I bought my LG K10 way back in 2016. If LG will continue selling smartphones with removable battery I'll keep buying this brand.

I have a flip phone, that I keep replacing from eBay. And I have an iPod… Put them together and you've got a smart phone. I will never pay for those kind of smart phone plans and with the iPod the only thing you can't do is connect if you're not at a Wi-Fi hotspot- For instance driving in the car. I can use all apps with the iPod-Snapchat couponing Pandora and Netflix Amazon anything you can think of. But I'm sure once you purchase a smart phone you would be struggling to go without. I also don't like how the one-liner phones do not have a port/jack for headphones-no there were videos about how you should always have something plugged into the airport so they can't listen to you now they're making them without the port??? Hummmm
