One thing I disagree is open house strangers working for other companies will rob you in Detroit. Word of mouth works well and the quality of your work and always have your equipment running for me is key. I'm a small engine mechanic so if landscapers can't afford my price they have to go to shop and spend triple price so I take they customers and market a area now I run the area and now taking pics with mayor top real estate companies and can run for City council. Tbt top landscaper's go solo for that 500 a day then work for a company

Would love to see more content on how to get a foot in the door. I've been working in manufacturing but have always wanted to work in construction, but have limited relevant experience.

Biggest reasons why companies get bad employees:
1. Low pay. Not paying a living wage. $10-$15/hour is not enough. Most qualified candidates will require $20+/hour minimum.
2. Lack of meaning to the job
3. Requiring unnecessary qualifications, which aren't necessary.
4. Little to no benefits
5. Contract work.
6. Having the wrong people interviewing candidates
7. Treating employees as commodities
8. Overworking employees
9. Mismanagement. Having unqualified people managing the company, which make the working environment unstable

What do I need to do? I am hiring my first full time employee to trim and edge with me. How do I make that sound good? And what things do I need to protect myself, company and the employee.

I understand about hiring constantly but it also wastes people’s time who actually need jobs. I don’t necessarily agree with the process. But it is what it is.
