I lost my husband to melanoma when he was only 40 years old. He left his three children besides myself. It was so terrible and sad. I am always checking my children. It never leaves you.

I had a B cell carcinoma in the corner of my eye! I needed 3 hours of reconstructive surgery after it was removed! Don’t delay suspicious marks on the face! It could be fatal!!

My Grandfather lost his fight with what started with skin cancer in 2020. He was my greatest supporter. And the only family member I resembled. We had a deep connection. Not a day goes by where I don’t think of him! ❤

My Dad had lots of Mohs surgery due to cancer. He got exposed to lots of radiation in the Navy and the cancers began popping out after the stress of losing his partner and having to take early retirement. He had the work done at Sloane Kettering in NY. They had him come for a head to toe exam every three months. Dad passed last year at 91, a stroke, not cancer. Miss you, Dad! R.I.P.

Please do not wait months and years to have your skin checked. This man was very lucky. If you in your 59-60’s, back in our day there was no such thing as sunscreen. It does and has come to bite many of us with skin cancer. I’m a rare case that was on my breast, turned into breast cancer and was stage 3 upon diagnosis. Didn’t show up in ultrasounds or mammograms!! Was a tiny Mole and went right into my milk ducts right to my lymph nodes!! I’m very very lucky to be here. Go get checked!!!

I once had a dermatologist tell me that no cancer is exactly desirable, but if I had to have cancer that basal cell carcinoma was the "best" one to have, or at least the least bad, for the reasons Dr. Lee explained. Which is good. I have had five BCCs removed plus two other growths that I believe were BCC, and I am thinking I am about due for another visit to the dermatologist for another spot that isn't healing.

My precious kitty had BSC on top of her head.
She had two surgeries and it came back a third time.
There was nothing they could do for her and I was so unprepared.
We said our see you soons and she was helped to cross over the rainbow bridge!
My wonderful vet said he would have done the 3rd surgery for free, but sadly the growth was much larger and had spread under her skin.
The didn’t charge me! They even had tears in theirveyes!
They even paid for her cremation for me.
Please keep an eye on yourself Ad your pets!!!!

It’s amazing to me that in this day and age, that when you see a growth like this, that people don’t automatically think it’s some form of cancer. every document, every online site, states if it has an irregular shape to it and it’s dark like that, it’s probably a form of skin cancer. the fact that his fiancé thought it was like a lipoma or some thing that could be popped, I just like I was flabbergasted that she didn’t think that it was some kind of cancer

This guy was lucky having only a BCC after waiting almost 3 years to get this growing, changing and bleeding mole checked.
An annual visit to a Dermatologist just as a screening is probably a wise choice!

I went in for asthma problems and when the doctor was listening to my lungs he noticed a spot and said to get it checked. Turns out it was melanoma in situ.

I still wish I could thank him all these years later.

He waited 2.5 years to do something about this? And there wasn’t a doctor in Texas that could’ve handled this?

Anything on your skin that does not heal within 2-3 weeks, and bleeds off and on, you should see your dermatologist and have it biopsy . My mom had basal cell on her head. She had radiation treatment. She lost her hair in that area. Always have it biopsy then you are sure what it is. Wear wide brim hat, not a baseball hat. Many men get skin cancer on their ears. Use a sunscreen with zinc.
Have regular skin cancer exam with your dermatologist. Learn about skin cancer. The lesion, irregular shaped, different colors in the lesion, may bleed and doesn’t heal. Melanoma may be found under nails.

I'm going thru this now. I was diagnosed with melanoma in may. It went overlooked by my dr for years. Now I'm fighting the battle.

My cat had something similar in the same spot. He had surgery. It came back 5 years later. They were worried his skin was already stretched in the area since it was between his eye and mouth. They gave him chemo drugs for several months and did the surgery again. Always get anything suspicious checked out!
