Unfortunately not all dermatologists are like Dr. Lee, they only want to drains cysts and refuse to take out the sac so we are left to our own devices to help ourselves.

My husband has these all over his back. He had a humongous one taken out about 20 years ago. Now he just lives with bumps. They come and go most of the time.

I had an open cyst on my right shoulder, and I had to have surgery to remove it because it had a tail that ran down the side of my back. I carried this cyst from 1987 to 2002, they only discovered the tail via an x-ray and MRI. But it was a shocker for the doctors at the hospital and they told me that it was the same type that John Merrick (the Elephant Man) had.

I had a cyst on the bottom of my heel. My doctor was a would care doctor, and when I went to him to have it removed, he suggested that it hurt so much already that I might not need a local. He was correct. It already hurt so badly that I did not feel a think when he drained it.

I've got one exactly the same and same place as this. I've had it since my mid 20s. I'm 65 now.

I totally understand the issue of embarasement of one's skin. I too have a skin condition called HS that causes painful and inflamed lesions filled with blood and puss. I have many, many scars so I do not wear clothing where my back or upper arms show either. It's really hard to be a woman with bad skin in this beauty culture. I also have taken care of many cysts myself over the years - I do make sure I get the entire sack. It is almost impossible to get into see dermatologist in my area, in a timely manner as well as the fact they want to use a steroid shot right into the painful area. Instead i go to Urgent Care for a lancing and draining or if small I use Collodial Silver (CS) at home on my skin for the most help (often the CS actually open up the cysts themselves as well over time.) I eat only the non-inflammatory foods and these things have helped ma a LOT! I have HS, stage one. (HS stands for hidradenitis suppurativa, a chronic skin condition that causes painful bumps and boils to develop in and under the skin. It's also known as acne inversa.)

All you need to know about amateur removal of cysts, can be learned from the dozens of Spa channels on YT. IE: DON'T DO IT! Despite their training in working with acne, which is spotty enough, they take on cyst draining for which they use every wrong and painful technique imaginable. No anesthetic and usually a tiny incision followed by "power squeezing" out the contents. Often through just a needle size opening. Of course the sack can't be removed, therefore they refill. I watched one with a large epidermoid cyst just below the eye. It wasnt an abscess drainage. The tech poked a tiny hole in it and proceeded to torture the sobbing "customer" that should have been a doctor's patient. Attempting to drain one at home without the lidocaine and training is the height of foolishness.

My acnes and bacnes were caused by conditioners I used. I always had my hair long so it gets on my face and on my back. Later I was able determine which brands I can use without causing acnes. I've observed that the one that has too much perfume would irritate my skin...

As much as I like seeing this part, I really prefer to see the procedures! This part minus the procedures, is disappointing. Sorry!
