I really admire the mom. It's clear how much she loves her son and understands his needs. She doesn't coddle him either.

Dr Lee, as a mom of an autistic son, this bought tears to my eyes. You treated him with so much care but more importantly respect! You talked to him, not at him, and that is so important. Thank you for being so wonderful.

Im the nurse at a group home for teenage boys and I LOVED this segment. I am always SUPER grateful for any doctor who can accommodate youth with disabilities. Well done Dr. Lee 😊

Dr Lee is excellent. And i gotta give credit to the mom, she was calm and supportive the whole time, making things way smoother

Dr. Lee! As someone with a horrific needle phobia, the vibration device was genius! He didn’t even flinch. God bled your compassion and skill!

I love that Jordan brought his stuffed horse with him! I am 18 and I feel a lot better when I go to the doctor or my therapist with one of my fashion dolls. I finally decided to stop caring what other people think and focus in my own comfort. I'm glad Jordan has something that brings him similar comfort!

i love how dr lee handled everything in this episode - as an autistic person we get talked down to or infantilised a lot and it is really encouraging and makes me smile to see a doctor treating an autistic patient with the same respect and talk to the same as any other patient 🩷

This was handled start to finish by everyone perfectly. Mom, son, Dr., nurse, all perfect. This is an A+ disability interaction. Dr. Lee talked to the patient, not his mom, about his pain and his comfort and that was so key in him being relaxed. Great outcome.

I like Jordan's stuffed friend! Nothing makes life easier to handle than having a friend to hug & hold on to. Dr. Lee handled this amazingly, she spoke to him gentle & friendly, but most importantly she only approached him or did anything after asking him 1st, those simple acts make all the difference in the world.

If more doctors worked with autistic patients the way dr lee did, a lot fewer of us would have medical trauma...thanks for the level of foresight you showed <3

As an autistic person, I can say that dealing with us is both simple and complicated. You can't easily anticipate how we might react unless you know us extremely well. We're just too different from other people for your social instincts to work on us. It's the same problem we have with you but far worse. Because we probably have a great deal more experience dealing with neurotypicals than you do with autistic people. Basically, you are autistic to us as well. But the good part of having an autistic person who is vocal is that we tend to be very straight forward and honest. So, we can tell you exactly what we need.

I’m a mom of a son with autism. What a great technique of using the vibrating steel rod to refocus his attention to another area while giving the shots. I’ve always enjoyed watching Dr Lee, but this video really highlights Dr Lee’s professionalism and compassion.

My son has Autism and I absolutely love that you treated him how you would anyone but with acknowledging needing to take a more sensitive approach. That little tool was a great trick which i may have to use next time one of my children need a needle.
This episode really made me smile especially when he hugged you that is the biggest compliment you could of gotten from him ❤
