Have to thank you guys for this. I've had my hybrid audio imagine 6.5's installed for over 3 years and have been so disappointed with their midbass while everyone else on forums and reviews were stating they loved how much midbass they had. I installed some frost tape around the woofer and wow what a night and day difference. It really gave me the full potential of the speaker. Thanks!

Great info guys some people really don't understand that the smallest things also count in car audio.

I have a 2015 Dodge Challenger scat pack 6.4L. When i got the car the bass was almost too much, sounded awesome and if I moved the equalizer to the rear I would hear almost nothing but bass. After an update at the dealer, not long after I noticed my subwoofer was putting out much less power. I tried moving equalizer to the rear and I barely had any bass it almost all came from the mids or if i put the equalizer directly in the center. After explaining this to my dealer service rep he explained that it could be a thing that dodge did via the update so that when you would move the equalizer the subwoofer would automatically reduce itself so that "people wouldn't blow their speakers". Not really buying this I took it to another dealer and they said it was a "broken radio signal something" I forgot the actual name, but after first spending $85 they could probably fix the issue. After that experience I thought maybe just upgrading the already pretty decent stock system with factory amp to an aftermarket amp and aftermarket subwoofer. If you have any insight on this the help to me would be invaluable on what I should do. Any recommendations? Or any one knows how to fix this particular issue I would greatly greatly appreciate. Thanks!

Good advise Guys! You spoke about damping the doors. How is that actually done? I want to do that but I don't know exactly what to use or to do.
Thanks

Good advice on directing the sound out the doors with the foam strips. Going add those strips and check out that difference. Good topics.

Better sound is about soundstage, imaging and dynamic power. Use good quality head, amps with good power supply (1/2 ohm stable) and align your speakers in front so that sound reaches th ears from each side at the same time (time align by putting mids and tweeters in kick panel area).

A great video and oh yes you know your stuff :) I found that the better the planning and preparing the better the end result is. I just have a pug 106 but with weeks of planning etc even with £40 speakers in the front doors, the result is impressive. Thanks again for the video!

Hey guys, have you ever tried using fiberglass insulation inside doors for absorbtion of the rear wave? To make sure it wont get wet and moldy, you can wrap and seal it around with 1 mill plastic painter's cloth. Lower midrange and midbass is dramatically improved even further with this step.

You guys are speaking sound language and i have to Google some words every-time you say something. I am from south Africa and looking into installing a sound system for my car. I am not looking for something too loud, just for my benefit. I basically can spend R3000 in the whole thing so i am looking for advice on how should i go about building, what brand to buy. I like clarity more than a super bass sound system.

I have a project daily 1983 e28 535i bmw race car project were talking 284 Cam on a ported/polished SETA 885 head, FI, Meth injection, e85, carbon fiber driveshaft and aluminum CV Axles carbon fiber hood, roof and trunk ETC. Etc. I'm working on and just want decent speakers. More interested in sound clarity than Bass. Not looking to spend a lot of money but maybe $150-250. Basically I'm asking what's a decent speaker to buy for crystal clear sound and some bass. I listen to everything except blue grass, yodeling, and noise rock. But typically stick with old school east coast hip hop, blues, and heavy metal/ classic rock.

Can you do an explanation of how to get higher fidelity sound at high vs low volume application? In my example I have 1 10” sub and 6x9’s in the front and 6.5’s in the back.

I had a system in my car and it sounded amazing. Then I sold the car and got a different one. I've put all the gear I had in my previous car in my new car, and it didn't sound half as good as it did in the previous one. It looks like in the first car everything matched nicely, but in the second car that had a smaller boot it didn't sound as nice. Many people were asking me if I changed something or took something out. But I didn't, all the audio was exactly the same down to the wire. But it still didn't sound as nice, bass was weaker, it didn't sound as clear and it didn't "fill" the car as it did before.
So there is definitely something to what you were saying here.
Just thought I'd put it out there. :)

I had a self-amplified sound bar installed in the back of my ford pickup and I used a high low converter to convert the higher amped signal from my factory speaker wires to the lower amped signal requirement for the sound bar input. But there is a great deal of distortion in the sound bar when I play it through the factory radio. Playing it through Bluetooth is crisp and clear. Why? Can I clean up the radio audio through the sound bar by maybe using a better high to low converter? Why does audio distort from high to low?
