If Frodo gets caught when wearing the one ring, why doesn't Bilbo?

Bilbo is the real MVP since he’s the only one who claims and actually gives up the ring and doesn’t give into its power. Unless it is that maybe the ring left bilbo on purpose

bilbo is probably the strongest minded hobbit of all time. He literally gave up the ring after years and years of holding it. hell probably one of the most strongest will (unaltered) of any race.

There were moments were bilbo did see sauron, the first was when gandalf investigated the entrance to mirkwood, bilbo was touching the ring and got a quick flash of sauron and the second time was when smaug summoned the dark lord by saying the ring was something far more precious that scared bilbo and he took the ring out. I think the book explanation was because all the sauron story was only mentioned by gandalf in bilbos house and after that sauron was weak and going to mordor. In the movies the reasson why he didnt get to see bilbo the first time he used the ring may be because he didnt want to reveal himself yet. And in the battle of the five armies he was defeated and busy going to the east trying to reclaim mordor as we see in middle earth shadow of mordor.

Simply put the ring couldn't break bilbo enough to reveal where it was to its master.

What I'm wondering about is that how come Saruman never read Bilbo's book, or never otherwise learned about Bilbo's ring, despite leading the White Council? In The Lord of the Rings, Gandalf says that Saruman had described the One Ring as looking plain, without jewels, like one of the Lesser Rings. Also, studying the arts of Morgoroth and his servant Sauron, Saruman would've known it's the One Ring, right? Gollum's hideout was also quite near to the Great River from where he had been looking for the ring for a long time already.

Then again, Saruman is a total fool, and his "high" moments in the book are being humiliated first by Gandalf, then later by Frodo and the Hobbits.

Cool! It would be great that scene of guard telling Nazgul that Ring is in Bree was filmed and incorporated into movie extra scenes as extended edition or bonus.

Plus their was the fact that Mordor was no where near powerful at this point.
In fact Saroun was so weak at this point. That he could not take on a FULL proper form.
When even the Nazghul could take on a more human form then their master. That should tell you how weak the lord of darkness was at that point. In Fact, in movie, that is why he had his servants go to the lonely mountain in the first place. So he can gain its wealth to jump start his plans early, aka the stuff that happened that in the original LOTR Trilogy.

This is actually one of those things Tolkein left to interpretation, the common sentiment is that at the time Frodo had the ring, Sauron was actually aware that Golum had it, and was actively looking for it. Before having known about Golum he wasn't even looking for it, although he had kept his eye around the edges of the river where Isildur was shot by an arrow in order to try and find it by keeping his base of operations in Dol Guldur.

Are we meant to believe in the context of the film that from the time Gandalf left on the night of Bilbo's party to his return and asking Frodo, "is it secret, is it safe" that was 17 years??? They made it look like he was gone for no more than a week.
