I have wanted a Barbour jacket for years. Three years ago, on a trip to NYC, I spent an afternoon trying on Bedales, Beauforts, and Ashbys - back and forth between them, one after the other. Since I currently live in Houston TX, where winters are very, very mild and we may go through the whole season without seeing any days or nights with temperatures below freezing, plus being somewhat along in years, so the attraction of a coat that would last a lifetime has limited appeal, I just couldn't justify the cost. Jump ahead to May of this year, when on a trip through Ireland, I came across a shop in a small town featuring Barbour among its offerings. 🍀 I snagged an Ashby in olive (with the three warrants!) at less than 2/3 of the cost in the US; plus I got the VAT back when I left. I finally got to wear it today for the first time! I'm in love... 💕

Mine arrived yesterday from England. I was extremely pleased with the sizing on it, as I have a non standard body type (shorter arms, big shoulders, large chest, slightly overweight) and I found the XXL to be perfect. I wanted something for wandering around Calgary in the spring, and I think this is it.

Great video. I own 11 barbours, between the bedale and Ashby, I like them for different reasons. If I plan on keeping the jacket on while moving around I prefer the bedale. If I’m in need of a jacket to go between car and a building say, I prefer the Ashby. The bedale has cotton sleeves, when I wear the Ashby I notice my shirt sleeves feel damp from sweat due to nylon/polyester sleeve lining.

Let me just say this to you that about 10 years ago i bought a heavy Barbour Parka with hood and fur.Used it once in a while during winter time going up to Lake Tahoe which is only about 2h drive. Then about 3 years ago i saw some of your videos and Boom, i owned about 10 barbour jackets now including the popular ones and some vests and used ones i picked up at ebay. My question to you is this, recently i changed my diet and lost about 25 pounds and my c42 size is now at least a size bigger.I don't wanna get rid of these jackets as i really Love them but at times if i don't put a heavier sweater under it it really feels a lot bigger! Hope you can help, Thanks

This one is the only jacket from Barbour that fits me well. Fits true to size, slim fit but is still comfortable. The only thing I don't like is the location of the upper pockets, which are hard to get into and they are not deep enough to keep a smartphone securely in.

I think there will be two Royal Warrants in future: King Charles, and William, Prince of Wales (he wears Barbour).

One word…. and very interesting point about the royal warrants🤯🤯. I could be wrong but I don’t think William ( maybe Charles as well) have issued any as of yet🤷🤔

Thanks for the review :) I am thinking about to buy the Waterproof Ashby withour wax. What are your experiences in the cold. What do you think till which degrees this one will be hold the warmth? Or yours you wearing in the vide0? thanks for replay and keep on going. :)

The only problem with Ashby is the extremely long sleeve length. I own the Bedale and the Ashby, similar sizes. Bedale sleeve length is perfect but the Ashby arm proportion is weird for the size. I had to send my Ashby to Barbour factory in South Shields for a proper alteration. Took about 4 weeks to come back, and now it's perfect. But I am not buying Ashby ever again and spend the extra money to have it altered. I'm gonna stick with their classics.

Hehe, I also own a Beaufort Classic and an Ashby (Olive). I agree with your thoughts at 100%. The velcro for the inner pocket is a shame. And I also share your pain with the wax collecting pets hairs in the first few weeks :)

I have one, the weakness of this jacket is on it's sleeve lining which is polyster, it feels sticky on skin, (when I wear on early spring) and feels more colder even wind blowing just little bit, (uncomfortable jacket) with Barbour's name should not use any polyster on their product.
