I’m watching this review on a less then month old TCL QM851G 75” TV and I can’t agree more with you. My friend just furnished his entire house with Sony Bravia 9 TVs and soundbars (3 65” models, one 75” and 4 Bravia Theater Bar 9 soundbars) and he now has some serious regrets as he paid north of 20 grand for all his TVs, soundbars + tax & installation, but after watching Oppenheimer at the after-party movie night at our house said that QM8 was as impressive if not more and that sound of Samsung Q990C beat the hell out of his Bravia 9 soundbars.
This TV is a true contender in Mini LED space and for a lot of people who have OLED burn-in fobia or live in very bright rooms, this TV is the real answer.

The TCL really did hold its own for being Mini LED! It was great to hear that you had some joy in your experience with it! It’s a great value for anyone that needs it! Great review as always!

I can attest.. the qm8 outperforms my c3 OLED until hdr Dolby vision. Great value for the money

Been watching your review and comparisons and picked up the 65 " QM8 for my bedroom, which replaced a LG C7 which literally burned a YouTube emblem in the corner, in certain scenes with red or white it would clearly show, and it was getting annoying, lol. I haven't regretted for a moment the swap and only paid $999 so even more happy with the purchase. Appreciate the work you do, thanks again.

Sony's prices are getting laughable at this point. PS5 Pro @ 700 bucks is the latest sucker test. Glad to see TCL and HiSense coming up quick and Panasonic coming back into the fold. Will hopefully put pressure on Sony to get their heads on straight again.

Sony's prices pretty much across the board have gotten WAY out of proportion to the product quality. They are a budget brand charging premium brand prices.

I got the TCL qm8 850g 2023 model on open box in like new condition just a couple months back. They clearanced them and are sold out now on best buys warehouse. I'm so happy with this TV I have zero complaints for what I paid. TCL don't play. Just a beautiful picture and paired with my laptop which is what I watch all my movies on for the processing power it does not have any issues keeping up. I can watch any movie with zero jittering and amazing picture I'm blown away. Time will tell as to the longevity of the TV that will be the true test. But I have faith this TV should hold up well over time if they want customers that stay loyal to their brand.

I was looking at the 85 inch qm8 at BB the other day. I was shocked at how good it looked. It really stood out.

Some reason virtually every other professional reviewer/calibrator all over YouTube did not speak NEARLY as highly about this TV. Actually the overwhelming majority of them gave the qm851g an only OK rating…

The Amazon ratings are impacted by delivery damage.

Thank you. I'm stuck between deciding on the 65 QM8B and the new 65 P8K model. Which one is better 🤔 Thanks 👍

Great final review @Quantum_TV
When I picked up the 2024 QM8 waaay back on June 1 I knew it was a winner and had something special about it. When you originally unboxed it in July, (I went back and watched again), I think you knew that too.
Good final review, and good job this year @TCL on quality and price!
Boooo @Sony for your dumb price of the that Bravia9. 👎🏽

Ps….thanks for the updated HDR settings you posted for members. Looks good👍🏽

Thanks again for the straight forward, no BS review. Could you advise me? Buying a new 65in tv. Not a gamer. Primarily YT, sports, movies (Prime, and bluray). Your suggestion between Samsung S90D, TCL QM8 (2024), and TCL QM7K (2025). Location in a not so bright family room. Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Good review, thanks for that. A question though: it *sounds* like you're using a stereo microphone, and your voice is moving from left to right, intermittently, as if you were moving yourself (or just the head) a LOT. If it is the case, I would suggest you to use a mono microphone or maybe try to move less. 👍😅

I guarantee you'd like the QN85D more than the QM851. Its color production is vastly superior, and the HDR remastering feature is incredible—something I know you could really take advantage of. It uses a high native contrast ratio panel with a modest number of dimming zones and an amazing algorithm, much like the Q8FN approach. In fact, this is the first TV in the last six years where Samsung has truly gone back to their roots with this strategy.

For the past 6 years, they've been using panels with very poor native contrast ratios, tons of dimming zones, and bad algorithms, totally ignoring how critical native contrast and algorithm performance is. This is literally the only TV in the past 6 years where they have deviated from this approach. The QN85D has no blooming in real content, the best color production I’ve ever seen on a mini-LED, and very stable black level performance. It's not quite as bright as the U8N or QM851, but it's still plenty bright and outclasses them in every other area.

Don't sleep on it, my friend. I'm pushing for this so hard because I believe in it that much. It's a special TV.
