According to some online sources. There's a deleted scene in the movie that actually identifies Gordy's shooter. The scene is question show the home of a man played by Michael Busch. His character is credited as "Nobody". Looking at Nobody's home it is obvious that he's a Gordy's Home Superfan. He even has a homemade miniature diorama of the Gordy's Home set where he keeps a pet crab (you can see this in the trailer).

Mr. Nobody is particularly obsessed with Mary Jo Elliot (the child actress who plays the sister), it's even implied that the guy's a pedophile.

On the day of Gordy's rampage, Mr. Nobody leaves his house while the opening credits to Gordy's Home are rolling and walks to the studio where the show is being taped, implying that he lives only a short distance away. He comes armed with a gun and some rope. As he arrives it is shown that Gordy's rampage has begun as the studio audience is seen fleeing past him. Although Mr. Nobody keeps walking as though nothing is happening. He walks into the sound stage where the show is being film and a single gun shot is heard.

Did he anticipate Gordy's rampage? Not likely because he left as the opening credits were rolling. It's implied that his plan was to abduct Mary Jo Elliot at gun point, but Gordy's rampage just happened to fall at the exact same day and moment he was going to carry out his sick plan. Just a coincidence.

In the movie, Jupe never learns from the incident. Rather than bothering to truly understand why he survived Gordy's rampage, he simply chops it up to "I was special, Gordy was my friend" because of the first bump, something the chimp had actually been trained to do with Jupe, and not for any special reason.

This, combined with the fact that he obviously suffered severe trauma from the incident, led to him making the fatal mistake of thinking that he had become the alien's friend because he had a "bond" with it, like he had a "bond" with Gordy. This foolishness gets him and everyone at his theme park killed.

Apologies my friends, it was the Daughter in the show that was disfigured and survived not the Mother. Thanks for watching!

I think they were referencing the Travis the chimp attack on Charla Nash. I was sweating and my heart was beating rapidly when I saw this scene at the drive in.

The woman that was mutilated was the daughter, not the mother. The mother and father were killed.

you gotta feel bad for poor Mary Jo. It's bad enough she got her face and hand eaten off by a chimp, but then she dies getting sucked up into JeanJacket and slowly digested alive

The fact everyone cleared out of there, the crew, the audience, literally everyone left Jupe and the cast to die made no sense to me. Even for a low budget sitcom playing fast and loose with actors' safety, there would at minimum been a handler for the chimp on set and at least one armed security gaurd who could just shoot the animal if things go wrong. Instead it wasn't until police arrived and shot him after he'd massacred almost everyone. I get that it's just a movie, but lets be honest, Jupe and any surviving cast would be somewere else living the good life off a fat settlement because one look at the shotty safety measures would have brought insane lawsuits.

Only reason he didn’t kill him is he didn’t look at him he looked at the shoe the bad miracle.

It wasn’t Gordy’s fault. The Company Knew A 200 pound chimpanzee would have to be released, since 4/5 (the 5th being the killer) of the chimpanzee actors were less than 200 ponds (130 maybe) It’s sad they this had to happen for the company to get to know that.

Poor chimp. Why didn’t they tranquilliser it? After all it’s all the producer/animal handlers fault. No one can blame the chimp for being scared. Poor people who innocently got injured. I’m actually surprised they didn’t sue the TV company.

What’s even more depressing is that by the end of the movie, the entire cast is dead.

The disfigured woman was not the mother, but the daughter. "My first crush Mary Jo Elliot".

Correction: the actress who was disfigured was the one who played the teenage daughter.

The chimp was clearly CGI. It didn't bother me too much, but it moved and made faces like a human not like a chip.
