Honestly the best upgrade I ever did was installing an 1tb NVME (OS mostly) and using a 4tb SSD for my games rather than 2 HDDS. Such a massive speed increase.

My favorite part about this advice is the fact that it applies to just general shopping as well. Never buy things based on ads and never buy things from FOMO and you will save a dickton of money.

This has been my advice for a long time. I know many people who buys latest and greatest and let 80% of their device's potential go to waste anyway especially when it comes to phones.

Basically, with my use case the answer is never. When the time to upgrade arrives (seldom) there is not much to salvage from the old system - maybe an extra SSD. Running currently prebuilt with 9400f/1660s/8gb ram and have no issues.

Use case: internet, office, casual gaming (mostly older titles).

it was taking me a full minute just to preview a single photo ..as a photographer this meant it would take me days to wade through a set to select rejects and editables
after a solid upgrade, i now run through them like a hot knife through butter 😏

very solid advice, im going to go back to playing old school runescape now on my pc wth a 4090, 7800x3d, 64gb of ram and 6tb worth of ssd.
