Why didn't they do a lie detectir test on her, if they don't believe her?

Steve is totally clueless when it comes to being a low income family battling CPS.

Whether Steve wants to accept it or admit it the court system is not always fair and they don't always do the right thing when it comes to the kids.

Just because you were a cop, doesnt make you an expert on child service practices and protocols

“why didn’t you come get me mom-“ broke my heart for that strong beautiful woman.

People DO lose their children over weed, especially back then. Steve has too much faith in our justice system.

Doing this show as long as you have. Being a cop for as long as you were. YOU never saw any injustice. Come on!! Our 'justice' system isnt so justice!! Idk if she is telling the truth or not but I dislike when he goes of with... "being a policemen for so many years I never seen kids being tooken away for blah blah blah blahh..."

I am a child & adolescent therapist. I completely disagree with Steve on this one. Child Protective Services (CPS) will absolutely take children out of a house where cannabis is being consumed in a state (such as Indiana) where it is illegal, and there is suspected neglect or abuse.

Steve I’m sorry but I lost my kids over weed and they were given to my brother and his wife, they called me unfit and never let me get them back.. I jumped thru all their hoops and still they recommended my brother keep them.. it’s not always fair, even tho I know you wanna believe it is.. it’s not

Steve, you sometimes put too much faith in the integrity of the system

I lost my daughter for 11 months for weed. My levels were so low (CPS told me that theirselves) they said they can tell I didnt smoke a lot. But even so they took her away. They gave her to my mom, who was a pill abuser and even came out positive for something she wasnt supposed to have. I did everything and finally got my daughter back but man I just sometimes think and cry about how bad the system did me. I was only 17 but I loved my baby. Years later cps was called on me and I told them they werent allowed to come in because of that, the lady looked at me and said “I saw your file and for that I am so sorry, we dont wanna take your kids away” but man hearing a case worker basically admit they did me wrong was so relieving. Things like that definitely do happen. Steve is one of my favorite people in the world I just wish his cop mentality didnt win him over so much sometimes.

Steve I love ya but I had a CPS case in 2009 in Sacramento California. Although my case was not drug related I met many families in family court and group counseling that lost their children for smoking weed. It was illegal back then! And CPS is a government funded human resource/business. The more they “serve and protect” the more funding and profit their “business” receives from our government.

It’s s big fat crock of shit in a lot of the cases. They do too much and demand extreme compliance for those that maybe just made some bad choices but yet there are so many cases out of my county where children are taken from parents, placed in foster homes where they are abused and often die at the hands of the people that are supposed to be providing and protecting these babies.

I’m gonna tell you now. CPS was called on me for “weed” they stayed on me trying to make it like it was the worst thing on earth when it was legal 10 mins away lol I lived in El Paso and NM was about 15 mins away where it was legal. I’m married, make 50k+ on my own ; plus degrees. I told the lady the last time she came “I’m packing their stuff if you claim it the worst parent either” I literally started packing them small bags and she said “omg noooo neverrr we always wanna keep kids with their families if we can help it blah blah blah” called her bluff never seen them folks again in my damn life!!!!

I know for a fact they do take your kids from you if you use any kind of drug including weed. Sometimes the courts do rail road some parents. It doesn't happen very often but it does happen.

Steve doesn't get it, my neighbor went through pretty much the samething. The worst part is weed is legalized where shes from. Took her kids gave them to someone that had no clue on how to take care of kids. They went through hoops to get their kids back they were abused daily. After 3 yrs and over $130, 000 she got them back with a lawyer. She had a civil suit against CPS & the judge. She was awarded 375, 000 & the kids were awarded $400, 000 that was put in a trust for them. When they turn 18 they'll get a portion & again at 21. The new Judge that heard the case said their babies shouldn't have been taken in the first place.

When I was taken from my mother as a teen I was abused and neglected more than I was with my mother. The system isn’t always there to help you. All the foster parents I had loved the money they got for me and never cared about what I needed. My last foster parent was a saving grace. She helped me graduate and get my life on track before I was thrown to the wolves in the real world at 18.

How do you tell someone who been through the same exact thing they don't get it because you're more emoti9nal about your trauma. That's why people dismissed depressed folks
