This is like a government ad to get more young people in government jobs. Most current gov workers are really old and retiring

The challenge to getting a govt job is waiting for someone to die for a vacancy to open.

This is a weird framing— Government jobs are targeted for layoffs constantly.

Working for local or state governments is way better than the federal.

We have hired some of them for office and when they find out we are serious about NO personal phones allowed during work or you will be fired after 1 warning. They never come back.

If you have a Federal level job and are in the right agency, with good promotion potential those are the way to go.

The benefits are nice, you get time off, and if you cannot live off of close to six figures and above incomes (despite your loans being forgiven possibly through PSLF), you are doing something wrong.

I used to be a huge supporter of democracy but these days I’m not as sure. “Protect our democracy” is thrown around so much these days but do we really live in a democracy when every politician is corrupt and there’s only two real parties to vote for? We really just live in a duel dictatorship.

I work in healthcare and my health and dental insurance also food is paid for by the hospital. I get paid less but those perks help in not having to think about additional expenses.

It's about time. I've been a civil servant for the last 28 years. I used to tell all my nieces, nephews, and all their friends to apply after they graduated high school & college. They always looked at me like I had a mutant monkey on my shoulder, lol.. I am doing very well for myself, and I am thankful for my union city job.

I took a civil service job 9 years ago. I wanted to work a 9-5 to have more time for myself. Working in my own was very difficult when you are young trying to start a family. I don’t want to work extra hours or weekends. I want to have a life and spend time with my kid. I took a 40% pay cut. But now I make more and have moved up and I’m fine. And yes, the benefits level it off. Making 10k a month as an entrepreneur sounds great for people selling courses on YouTube, but in NYC that doesn’t get you much further than a 4k a month govt job after taxes with benefits. Just like the trades, it’s an option and everyone has to make the decision for themselves if it works for them.

Smart move. Back in the days, i use to get The Chief paper every week. It was a government/civil service announcement of all available jobs.
Good luck !

The younger generation is starting to wake up and realize that job security is one of the most important components in their life. Benefits such as medical and pension are more important than than pursuing the almighty dollar in the private sector and still being laid off anyway. Also at the end of the day or your career you feel like your life has had purpose.

I worked at the post office as a carrier during the summer. It wasn’t for me (mostly because I was pregnant) but if I was younger & more agile it was a great job

This is good and bad.
Getting a government job is a pain in the—
Most jobs may require a background check/Security Clarence and too many Americans can’t pass a check; until someone is dead then you can’t move in or up. At the same time, we are losing people from retirement faster than gaining people so there’s a void in the market, many roles need people. But once you are in you are in.
