This was our first full year of homeschool, and the pandemic definitely changed how we planned to homeschool! We figured out ways to work around it... but Iโ€™m really looking forward to homeschooling without a global pandemic!!

Love your channel and your honesty! We also had a crazy homeschool year with constant changes due to what everyone dealt with but also some family health emergencies that really threw us off track. However, our kids are healthy, happy, and still learned so I'm calling it a win! ๐Ÿ™Œ That being said, I have high hopes for the upcoming school year! Hope you all have a fun and refreshing summer!

Thank you so much Jessica for this update. It makes me feel so safe that you said this was a very challenging homeschool year because Iโ€™m a new homeschooler I began 2019 pre-covid and we had such a magical year this year was so difficult for me. I really felt like a failure in a lot of ways and we finished nothing. It was also just a challenging year because we have twin toddlers and I was finishing school. Any who all this to say you have been such a guiding encouragement throughout our journey so far and itโ€™s been really helpful just to hear itโ€™s been a hard year. So thank you for your updates, the amazing content you curricula you create and your genuine heart โค๏ธ

Thank you so much Jessica! Itโ€™s so comforting to see other homeschooling moms who have to reevaluate and flip the script mid year when something isnโ€™t working for your child/family! It feels like thatโ€™s all we did this year!

I don't think finishing a curriculum means someone is more successful then you. It sounds like your pandemic homeschooling was a HUGE success. Good job Waldock family! Can't wait to see what your summer adventures look like!!

And we didn't kill each other so I'm going to call it a successful year.... ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
You just described my year exactly.

Yes! It feels so good to know weโ€™re not alone in this. Still, I am looking forward to writing my daughterโ€™s progress report at the end of the year because I think I will be pleasantly surprised at what she did learn - especially in the life skills department.

No worries. I changed curriculum SO much this year and then as my boys were nearing the end of Teaching Textbooks they bailed on that and went to Kahn Academy. Iโ€™m just going with the flow. Maybe, hopefully next year will be totally different. ๐Ÿคžโค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜˜

I love your honesty. My son just finished 2nd and it was our first year homeschooling. He has severe ADHD and is an only child. He doesnโ€™t want to do anything independently. It was exhausting being cooped up with him all the time!! My husband also works from home now and we all stayed home most of the time. We did manage to complete our goals, but I know 3rd grade is a big step up from 2nd! Goals also vary considerably! One person could set 3 easy goals year, while another could set 20 challenging ones. Itโ€™s all subjective and personal! :)

I really appreciate your honesty. We also managed not to kill each other! This year was so hard for us; for several reasons. Definitely nothing like I planned.

This was so great! It is so true, people start things but did they like them, ditch them, hate them? I honestly cannot even REMEMBER all the things we started the year intending to do. My middle son's year especially! His year looked totally different by the end! My youngest too, she DID finish her math she started, but we threw in other things along the way, ditched the LA we started and everything else is lost to 'pandemic brain' I can't remember what I even planned for her all those months ago! whoops! Only my oldest started and finished what we PLANNED for him, and in record time. It was a CRAZY year, but we survived and learned a LOT through the process of just living through a pandemic <3

I want to do more reading next year...We don't do nearly enough reading....and we didn't do like any art this year lol....being a single mom, with 4 kids (2 with special needs), going through the pandemic, 3 family deaths, having to self isolate, having the kids school's shut down, then open, then shut down again, and our whole city shut down literally, I literally had to keep a routine with my 7 year old that I'm homeschooling. I did homeschool my 14 year old for a few months also. But we had to do the same thing everyday because it was such a stressful year! My kids and I did and do not, still, have the energy to add new stuff in right now, We are running on empty over here! If people wanna send some energy our way that would be great! lol. What I did with my 7 year old this year is good and beautiful math, L.A, and handwriting. Travel the world for social science and random science stuff but we didn't do any science experiments which I feel bad about, but I'm going to write out my plan for next year and hope to god things start opening!!

Just finishing read aloud books is a big accomplishment. I canโ€™t even do that.
What about your Harry Potter school did that work out for you?
