It shocks me that Apple even signed on Jon Stewart, given all the sketchy places they have their hands in.

It's *always* difficult to have a Jon Stewart around. That's why we have/need/love him.

He's a consummate professional, excruciatingly intelligent and preternaturally tapped in to the worlds around him (ie not just the one his family experiences from their combined efforts).
If you read that as a compliment, you are correct; hence his cred and popularity/ratings.
If you read that as a terrifying threat to those who make $ directly or indirectly (hello, advertisers!!) from ratings and/or The Way Things Are, you are correct. That's why Oliver, Colbert and Meyers (both particularly thru and since the pandemic) and the much-missed Sam Bee all have/had such well-regarded shows among people prepared to Q themselves. It's also a big problem for any political party/force that wants power - not always easy to get all those thinkers to agree, even on terms to agree on. You have to have a scary enuff alternative that the Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend - congrats US on meeting the threshold...
