Gathering dust at the British Museum is an ancient manuscript of the early Church, written by an anonymous monk, at least 1,600 years old, providing the first ever translation from Syriac into English of a profound document—some twenty-nine chapters in length —that tells us the inside story of Jesus’ social, family, and political life. The Lost Gospel takes the reader on an exciting adventure through this highly informative ancient manuscript. After decoding the basic symbolism, something surprising and groundbreaking was discovered: confirmation of Jesus' marriage to Mary Magdalene the names of their two children; the towering presence of Mary Magdalene (a Gentile priestess), a serious plot on Jesus’ life in 19 C.E. prior to the crucifixion; an assassination plot against their children; Jesus’ connection to political figures at the highest level of the Roman Empire—Emperor Tiberius and his protégé Sejanus; a religious movement that antedates that of Paul—the Church of Mary Magdalene.

I love Simcha's work. ❤️ He's one of the only people who has consistently advocated for Mary Magdalene 's rightful place in the formation of Early Christianity.

Someone asked Jesus's wife if Jesus was perfect and she replied "Yeah, right"

I've read the book twice. Very interesting even if one doesn't agree with all of it. I tend to think they are on the right track. Oh, and it is nothing like Dan Brown's work. He is a novelist. Barrie and Simcha are research writers. No fluff.

Married, not Married doesn't matter. He is not God.

I was one of those scholars who rejected the thesis of this book out of hand when it was first released. I've now read the book and am persuaded by the central thesis. Joseph and Asenath is a Christian typological narrative about Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Its provenance, its placement within Christian manuscripts, and its affinities with 2nd century so-called Gnostic literature and particularly early Syriac Christianity lend credence to this thesis. There is something of a spaghetti against the wall approach and quite a few overreaches with numerous parallels, both literary and archeological, but the central thesis deserves to be taken seriously.

You're entering Dan Brown territory here.

I agree that there were many variations of Christianity in the ancient world but when Berry said that that there were more denominations than there are today I find this hard to believe. There are approximately 45, 000 Christian denominations today. Unless he is considering all of Pauline Christianity as one denominations.

I loved The Last Temptation of Christ, Nikos kazantzakis dealing with Jesus’ marriage to Mary and Martha. But to question if Jesus is God begs the question, what’s a god? Is there a spirit? What is the spirit of these men? I think the spirit of Christ is one with God, against all gods.

Thy neck is like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men. Song of Solomon 4:4

Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bathrabbim: thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus. Song of Solomon 7:4

Magdala means tower, yet Tower of Ivory and Tower of David are titles for the Blessed Virgin Mary in Roman Catholic litanies.

"He wouldn't have gotten away with it if he were saying it out loud"
...
He didn't "get away with it" he was crucified after preaching for only a few years outside Jerusalem and DAYS in Jerusalem.

Wonderful. Buying it. It makes so much more sense than fables and fantasies of ancient people.

When Simcha relates our recent history of having to speak in code my ears came alive...this is an important take away

Everyone knows that Jesus' wife is the church.

If he wasn't married then Isaiah 53 isnt about him. He lived a long life and saw HIS SEED. Elementary Watson. Everyone who truly studies the NT knows it too is a coded story. You have to establish the truth by two or Three witnesses line upon line precept upon precept. Thats why there are so many contradictions. the book of Revelation holds many keys to finding the wisdom needed to interpret the gospel story which is spiritual metaphor and allegory. As does the book of Isaiah. The Son of God is not one person (Revelation 21:7, psalm 82:6) just as the virgin daughter of Zion is not one person. All clearly defined in the OT. The NT coded message identifies John the Baptist as Jesus. Im shocked people still haven't figured this out. John was the son of a priests who went rogue and he is also John the same evangelist and Revelator. A true prophet. His teachings were later encoded then edited by Rome. So its a real job to seperate the truth out from centuries of editing to fit a narrative that was already an encoded story.

Was Jesus married? I can believe that. Did he get himself brutally murdered? The crucifixion story is imagery and prophecy for two appearances, within the same generation, at the end of the ages, the time of the harvest.

he has appeared at the end of the ages (Heb 9:26 NABO)

The way of the Lord in the desert needs to be put into context with the previous passage:
Sacrifice - Indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.
Resurrection - Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God! (Isa 40:2-3 NABO)
Just as it is appointed that human beings die - be judged - appear a second time, so also Christ …will return Heb 9:27-28 …as the (Red) Dragon (Demon Sin) stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth. (Rev 12:4 NABO)

The warrior Messiah followed by the Messiah bring peace. The wrath of the sacrificial lamb followed by the scapeG.O.A.T with the sin placed on him. Arjuna followed by Job. Joshua followed by Moses.
