Is the NEW 2021 Acura TLX Type S a performance sedan worth the price?

The ALL NEW TLX Type S is here and Acura is ready for competition like the Audi S4, BMW M340i, and Cadillac CT5-V. Under the hood is a new 3.0L turbocharged V6 pumping out 355HP & mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Power gets to the ground through Acura's SH-AWD system. On the outside you will see the unique front fascia, rear bumper, quad-tip exhaust and option performance 20in wheels. On the side you will get a choice of interior colors including Type S specific Orchid white, update infotainment, and unique steering wheel. Hey Joe! I test drove one today. It was off the hook in Sports + mode. Stupid fast from a dead stop. Engine sounds amazing and shifts are lightning fast if you allow it to do it for you. Best handling car I ever drove hands down. I found the ride to be quite soft, not stiff or bumpy at all.

However, I was told by the dealer it would be 6 to 8 months to get one so I wound up buying a 2021 TLX A-Spec with SH-AWD instead. I just didn't want to wait that long plus I got 60 months at 0.9% financing which I never could have done with the Type S. 75 months was maybe best I could have hoped for. So, I am not sad at all.

Finally, the market adjustments are real on the Type S. One dealer, I spoke to had one advertised at a $53, 825 MSRP and after two days of talking finally decided to tell me they marked it up $5, 000 and added an $1800 ceramic coat job. Final price was $60, 970!🙄 I told them they were misleading potential customers by advertising it at MSRP while marking it up. I told them I wasn't interested and would not pay over MSRP So, I walked away from them.

Great review Joe! I've sold my 2010 Acura TSX and I'm taking delivery of my new 2021 Acura TLX Type S in Apex Blue/Orchid interior and Shark Gray Y-Spoke wheels today! I'm very excited. I've had an inspirational poster of the concept car above my desk at work for over a year now. Your A+ review (especially your track drive) was really the driving force behind my final buying decision!
