Good question, but if you had a natural fear for your life since they broke into your home, it's the fear factor just like cops use to justify their actions of why they shot someone. Just saying.

Imagine the prosecutor trying their best to throw you in jail because you defended yourself and your family from someone who broke into your house—a place in which you have a right to be.

If somebody breaks in my home while I'm asleep I feel he/she is there to hurt or kill my family. I don't think someone is going to break in my home in the middle of the night to bake me a cake. If I have to protect my family I will as much as I would not want to have to hurt another human my family comes first

Here in Kentucky, at my home, if someone made their way into it, they would have to force their way into it or pick my locks. Either way, I would presume that they meant to cause me and my family great bodily harm or death. I'm not going to have a conversation about it with them. I might tell them to leave but if they take one more step towards me, they'll be introduced to hot lead. Sorry, but they should have went to an anti-gunner's house.
