Since their founding just 2 years ago. Figure is moving at lightning speed now on to Figure 02 of their bot and soon they’ll be announcing Figure 3 which we got to see in private.

In the interview we specifically focused on asking Brett the sensitive questions that many have been asking. What are their plans for manufacturing at scale, why does he believe they are one of the top leaders in the field.

Robotics expert Dr. Scott Walter is an Aerospace Engineer with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and has co-founded two robotics companies

I often wondered if Herb had a lower body 😅. Seriously, great coverage!

“prototypes are easy. Manufacturing is hard.”

Brett doesn’t get that the machine that builds the machine analogy. That is a concept to a door that Brett has yet to opened. He doesn’t even know who his suppliers will be, where his factory will be, what his price will be and what his bot will do.

He has a software / hardware problem with no idea how to scale it. They are a small machine shop using other people’s LLMs and he doesn’t even understand Tesla cars doesn’t need internet connection to use FSD. Brutal. 😮 inference compute Brett. You need to FIGURE THAT OUT! Figures he would call himself the best in the world… LUCID says the same stuff.

It looks like this figure prototype is fantastic. Well done Brett. You are doing well. Now comes production at scale. Prototypes are Production at scale HARD. you have 1000 different pieces to individually produce at scale. I believe you will do 2028

Ohhh my… the end of the interview was brutal. That was a Trevor meltdown Milton moment… declaring your the best without delivering a product. He’s a giggly little girl about his next factory. That was the moment where I understood exactly how much this guy doesn’t know about moving and scaling atoms.

Good luck Brett.

Good product, I just feel that Tesla will over take on AI and mass production, and cost so fast it will drown a lot of startups.

This was an amazing interview - I can only imagine what you two saw in the back. Sounds like maybe we'll see a very nimble Figure 3 bot demo soon!

About a year ago, Brett outlined the path from factory deployment to home use on Peter Diamandis's podcast, particularly in the eldercare use-case, He also confirmed in a twitter conversation with me that their robots will eventually be available for rent on a monthly basis for private consumers. In another tweet he said that manufacturing humanoids at scale will be like manufacturing consumer electronics than cars, which means the price might eventually be closer to0 that. So exciting to see the technology and economics coming together so rapidly. Great job, Harbert and Dr. Walter!

Key takeaway,
Difference between a product company and a tech company. Thanks brett. So many things I've taken away from this and most of your interviews.
I wish to play with figure 5 one day.

The Total Available Market for humanoid robots is practically infinite at the beginning. Far outpacing production. There will be room for many companies to exist and thrive. Looks like Figure might be one of them. I’m rooting for North American companies over China. Go Figure!

I actually thought they were a bigger threat - now I am more optimistic on Tesla :D

this guy memorized all the right "words" to give the impression they're making more progress than they actually are. can't wait for it to SPAC so i can short it

Going to be interesting to see what progress Tesla has made with Optimus. One thing for sure - with Tesla being vertically integrated - I don’t see any other competitors being able to match Tesla on pricing.
