I actually like that the zombie maps borrowed from the campaign/multiplayer maps. It was nice seeing how they changed. I remember how firing range was requested to be changed into a official zombies map for a long time.

I wouldn't say its because they were lazy per say, but back than zombies was more of a side project in World at War and Black ops 1, and you see that later on in black ops 2 and 3 that is became more then that.

They weren’t lazy, all their early maps were reused, even from Nacht, all the way Five, and even Ascension. I believe Call of the Dead was the first original map

This is such a new discovery, next you'll tell me the multiplayer map was also pulling from the campaign as well

It's not that Treyarch were lazy but they were actually rushed back then. Right around when Sledgehammer games started working on Cod Games that gave Treyarch time for their cod games. But it seems that all of Treyarch's new Cod games were lazily made lol

I think it’s to create a sense of continuity by having multiplayer, story and zombies be in similar locations

I thought this was obvious? Even when I was a child I realised they basically used Launch as a base

Players calling clever reusing of geometry “lazy” is one of the most annoying things in gaming

I wouldn't say lazy, they just didn't have a budget to justify actually making new maps. As they started to earn more money they were able to make more unique experiences such as Call of The Dead and Shangri La.

Bo1 was still the best for zombies at the time even when bo2 had come out because you could get the old waw maps on it and moon for fifteen dollars which was more than what and other zombies dlc gave you now and back then, and if you didn't have money for the dlc you have 2 excellent maps, including dead ops arcade, whole bo3, waw, and bo2 only came with one map to start you off with the purchase of the game. (And no I don't count the separate sections of transit being turned into their own maps, more than one map)

It wasn’t “lazy” it was cool and that’s how they did it back then. Every map of zombies was from the campaign or a multiplayer map

I'm loving your content. Went through your channel and watched the bulk of recent videos. Keep this up and it's hard to see you not growing to a massive channel.

Shi no numa and der reise were also not from the campaign at the point which ascension was released. There are claims that they borrow from certain swampy and urban campaign missions on odd wikis and forum posts but a valid comparison has never been drawn

Please get Treyarch making "new" old zombie modes

Makes me wonder why they included this map in bo4 but not bo3 since they remastered it in zc..

Kino does use WAW mission assets (Downfall) because it was a WaW map originally

Nacht Der Untoten - Airfield
Verruckt - Asylum
Shi No Numa - Campaign: Semper Fi and Multiplayer: Knee Deep/Makin
Der Riese - Nightfire

Kino Der Toten - Actually Unique
Five - Campaign: U.S.D.D/Rebirth
Ascension - Campaign: Executive Order and Multiplayer: Launch (as shown in video)

Past these, everything started to become more unique. The wiki states elements of Call of The Dead are used from the campaign mission Project Nova, but that's really just the snow related things. There's also Moon using Hangar 18 for Area 51, but these are small reuses of assets. I honestly kinda miss the revisits to old maps and whatnot that felt familiar, but it feels like the revisits in Revelations, Classified and Tag Der Toten just didn't work as well for me. There was also the nod to Nacht in Green Run that you had to find in the corn field.

Then there's Nuketown, of course. That was fun too.

Well then again, zombies was only a side project and that’s how zombies maps were from WaW-BO1 with re-using MP maps for zombies
