How to solve a percent problem. The best way to solve percent problems is understand the definition of percent. Percent is comparing a number to 100. Two ways to do this ..
1) 3/20 x 100 ... 300/20 ... 15 ... 15%
2) 20 x 5 = 100 so multiply 3 by 5 as well ... 15 .. 15%

15%, So because you used nice easy numbers I divided 20 into 100 = 5 then multiplied 5 by 3 =15%

I know I shouldn’t, but I feel some amount of internal shame having to watch this at 35 years old. I’m no dummy, I’ve got a degree in Electrical Engineering, had a successful Air Force career, and now IT career.

But I was never taught “efficient” math like this.

Divide by 2 giving 1.5 / 10. Multiply by 10 to bring the denominator to 100; do the same to the numerator; equals 15. 15% answer. 😀

15%. 20 goes into 100 5 times, 5 times 3 is 15. Therefore, 3 is 15% of 20.

The easiest way is to imagine a simple number of 10% of 20, which is 2. Divide the 2 in half because half of 10% is 5%, which is 1. Add 2 (which is 10% of 20) and 1 (which is 5% of 20) together to get 3

If a car cooling system is flushed and drained to remove 75% each time, how many flushes are required to remove at least 95% of original contents.

My adhd brain: 3 is 30 percent of 10. 10 x 2 is 20. 30 divided by 2 is 15. Answer= 15%

10 % of 20 is 2,
and 5% so 1. Thus 15 % = 3.

Really? Folks can’t do this? Surely anyone knows 2=10% of 20 and 4 therefore is 20% so 3 must be 15%……..
