Cruise Passengers Angry After Last-Minute Itinerary Changes

Some Carnival cruise passengers are angry because their vacation itinerary was changed at the last minute. Carnival says the engine trouble meant the ship could not travel at full speed. Passengers only found out about the switch in itinerary on the day the cruise set sail. They were offered a full refund if they canceled or a $400 ship credit per cabin if they decided to stay on board. However, the news did not go over well.

The Turks itinerary is more expensive than the Nassau itinerary. Shame on Carnival!

This is utter fraud. They need to pay for this.

It's called Carnival because it's run by clowns 🤡

The spokesperson for the ship is doing a bad job addressing the crowd. The angry customers can't solve the problem because it's not their job to solve it.

Just give them their money back. These million dollar companies do anything to keep your money without giving you what you paid for. I would do a chargeback with my bank.

Wasn’t even there and I want my money back

People have scheduled vacation days! Sue them.

The fact they couldn’t do a full refund should be a law suit.

All these horror stories about Carnival Cruise and people still buy tickets.

Really makes you question when Carnival knew that they would have to change the itinerary. It should've been an immediate notice to the passengers so that they could decide BEFORE getting on the ship. Sounds like a class action lawsuit to me. At least they'd get reimbursed for travel and vacation time off work having to take a cruise to nowhere.

People plan things according to the locations they’re planning to visit. Not to mention getting days off from work & then just switching those off days.

That is a RIDICULOUS excuse from Carnival. They ALL should get a total refund. But, if they were all onboard and THEN the cruise line told everyone, they were basically kidnapped, which should be treated as a crime, as they DID NOT PAY FOR OR ASK FOR going to the destination they were taken, and the food and drinks should've all been complementary for that as well, it goes without saying. Carnival is BY FAR the worst cruise line out there right now.

Ship board credit is a joke because the money stays with Carnival.

They did this to my family trip, we missed stops and rushed back a day early. These ships need to be penalized.

The $6000 dollars guy, based on his accent, is from the Bahamas. Which would mean he spent $400-600ish per person to fly to the US stay overnight to then get on a cruise ship (which he paid $6000 for—which would be about 4-5 month pay for the average Bahamian) just to sail around his own country. This is ridiculous.

I would want a full refund, plus some. I imagine a lot of people used their paid vacation time from work for this and may not be entitled to take any more time off, at least not with pay if at all.

They could've said so earlier but chose not to. A full refund isn't going to make up for vacation days from work and other traveling expenses like if they flew in from a neighboring state just for the cruise.

Imagine taking a cab to visit Paul McCartney, but the cabby takes you to R Kelly instead.
