He committed suicide. Not really sure why his family was trying to sue? I guess people will do anything these days to try and make a buck.

I’ve been studying the minds of suicide victims for 6 and a half years now with my old friend. One thing I can’t imagine is the regret the man felt when he hit the water. The vulnerability of being in the dark, cold ocean. All alone, knowing no one will save him in time. Knowing you’ll have a slow death. The salty waters filling your lungs, the families he left behind, all of their faces flashing before his eyes. Wow, sad

Thats such a horrible way to go; he was alone, in pitch black darkness, and drowning to death. I hope he is in a better place, much love and strength to his loved ones.

Another thing is the cruise line will probably get blamed for this and in all honesty it’s not their fault that this man took his own life

when the guy put his arms out it looked like he was cheering that he fell.

Why would you want to commit suicide this way? It’s like one of the most terrifying ways to go. Stuck in the middle of the ocean, in pitch black water.

I can't imagine what would make someone take their own life in such a terrifying in the deep, dark, unforgiving ocean. He must have really been suffering mentally and emotionally. I hope he is in a better place now.

The guy they interviewed is exactly what I think every cruise ship passenger looks like.

Ik this is 7 years ago, but still..
I have been on multiple cruise ships on royal Caribbean and I was shocked to see someone on a family-friendly cruise take his own life. This is really sad, and I hope this guy is in a better place.

Imagine being on a cruise and still hating your life. It goes to show money don’t buy you happiness.

Imagine being the dude that fell, it was pretty much pitch dark at night when he fell, and when the cruise left him be probably couldn't see anything after. Man that's gotta be a really scary feeling.

If the coast guard hasn't found him in 6 years, they should probably give up

I don’t know guys. It really looks to me like he fell. I get he put himself in that situation, but sometimes people get pushed to these limits but can’t bring themselves to go all the way. I think he could and would have been saved if he hadn’t fallen. It’s really tragic.
