For some reason, this was the part that made me laugh the most - perhaps because I was expecting all of the literal translations, like papillon to mouche de beurre, but "merci toi" just caught me completely by surprise.

I'm a native English speaker, I say "thank you" all the time without a thought, but in French, it's so completely bizarre that I feel like if you actually said it out loud in France, everyone would be freaked out and would walk in the other direction and pretend they didn't see you.

(Also, I'm English, so for us, your ladybug would be un oiseau de dame, which is even stranger)

This is giving me flashbacks to the French class where we had to create an advertising poster for a Canadian brand. One student chose Air Canada, but clearly just ran their copy through whatever the rudimentary translation website was in the late 90s because they had written in big beautiful letters "MOUCHE AIR CANADA"

I just realized that this is why I always got bad grades in French class. My teachers said I was using English words in my writing, but I never understood what they meant by it since it was all written in French. I wish this had been revealed to me earlier. It would have saved me a lot of pain. I can't believe I was so stupid to not even realize what I was doing.😂
