Their English is miles ahead of most British people's French. Better to speak a language with a foreign accent than to not speak it at all.

ANYONE that can communicate and get their point across in English when it is not their first language has a leg up on most Anglo speakers. For the most part, they can hold a conversation and get their point across. Well done.

Other than the last 2 their English was fine, nothing to mock, I'm also used to hearing French speakers talk in English so it doesn't phase me.

Honestly the fact that most French politicians can speak well enough English for a native speaker as myself to understand is hella impressive! No hate at all like how many US politicians can speak a word of French 😅

As a British native speaker - Valery D'Estaing's speaking was actually pretty good! His accent was pretty good for a French speaker and he sounds like an old time BBC news reporter in the 1960's. I've certainly j heard worse French speakers

My French was very rusty when I visited last year. I thought people would "help me out" and switch to English but actually to my delight no one bothered. Really liked that fact and I've gotten a bit better since too.
