That is not why spam has a bad reputation. Plenty of meats in cans out there that doesn't get knocked on. Spam has a bad rap because of its salt content, ingredients and its terrifyingly processed. Sure, some people enjoy the taste. I enjoy a good spam sandwich every now and then but I wouldn't eat this everyday for obvious reasons.

Spam is VERY popular here in Korea so I was surprised when I went to the states and found out that many people find it gross (because some people legitimately didn't think of frying it first. well YEAH then I'd agree that's gross😂). Spam kimchi egg fried rice is one of my favorite comfort foods❤

Spam is such an underrated ingredient.
Its like not even bad but its cheap as dirt. My depression meal since i was a kid was cream of mushroom soip and spam as a sauce usually with an extra kick of pepper added to it. Then put it with either white rice or a mac and cheese friendly pasta.
You can put a bit of tabasco too but its totally good considering its price and the ingredients you are using which can be found at any can can charity thing lol.

When I make mine, I also cook onions, garlic, red cabbage, peas, carrots, and occasionally corn in some butter and sesame seed oil first. Then the spam and eggs, and finally the rice.

I live in the U.S! I actually tried spam recently and it was so good! I really liked it and definitely would eat it again. In the can it does look questionable. But once it's fried, it looked and tasted heavenly! Although most my friends claimed to not like it, or haven't tried it and don't want to. Which is sad to me. But it's their opinion

I'm fairly certain Hawaii has the largest import of spam because of spam masubi! It definitely has a bad reputation but spam can be utilized well!

in the nicest way possible i am so confused on how you've gone through life up to this point and never had spam, it was an absolute staple during my childhood. i loved it growing up, my mom made it all the time (because we were...not made of money to put it lightly lol) and even though i don't eat it often (my mom stopped making it because "too much sodium" idk, i haven't died yet so) anymore i still love it

I recommend to use the whites of the vegetables in the wok girst and after youre done adding everything else add in the greens about 30 seconds before you would serve add in the greens. Keeps colour and a lot of flavor.

spam is super popular in hawaii (i don’t live in hawaii anymore but i was born there and i am hawaiian). you should definitely try spam musubi. it is a little tough to make at first so u should probably get it from a hawaiian restaurant. it is basically a very large piece of sushi in a way??? idk how to explain it but it is rice and then spam on top wrapped in nori. i don’t usually eat pork but spam musubi is my one exeption😍

I live in Hawaii and I was genuinely surprised that the mainland thought spam was gross. It’s one of my favorite foods to eat for breakfast with eggs and rice. I suggest you also try make a spam musubi next. Those things are yummy 😀
