Good description of confusing terms that sound so similar but are actually so different.

Got my gall bladder out last year, the year before I got it out was the WORST; so so painful. Surgeon almost couldn't get my GB out laparoscopically due to the size of my gall stones (4cm long each). Been enjoying life a lot more ever since I got it removed 😊

Love this! I’m a nurse who occasionally takes care of patients post-op from choles, and I’ve never understood gallbladder issues that well. I’ll have to share this with any students I have

Off topic, but I wanted to thank you for all your educational work on youtube! It pointed me to the fact that I've had lifelong misdiagnosed IBD. First colonoscopy tomorrow to figure out which one, and I'm not nervous nor clueless :-)

A few weeks ago my GI doctor said that he was referring me to a surgeon with the recommendation that I have my gallbladder removed due to a high number of gallstones as well as other issues. This was incredibly informative so thank you for making this video.

I needed an explanation for these diseases and their relationship with pancreatitis and out of no where your video appeared to me. Fantastic explanation 👏

For those of you who are learning this, draw this out with labels. It becomes super easy to remember the diagnosis based on where the stone is stuck.

Oh, wow, I learned a lot from that one anatomy picture! I did not know the pancreatic duct lead to the bile duct, and I was a bit vague about the relationship between the hepatic duct and the bile duct.

Your explanation of the topics is so understandable !!!
You are a great teacher! Thank you.
Maybe you should teach anatomy online? Have another YouTube channel with anatomy and physiology!

My cat died on 23 December after an emergency gall bladder bypass. A 1.2 mm growth blocking the duct ultimately caused her death. Symptoms were inappetance, nausea, ultimately also weight loss. Poor kitty.

My gallstones caused a liver infection, but I wasn't jaundiced or fevered. Only symptom was the intense pain I was in for a month and losing 30lbs in as many days. My surgeon did an enzyme test to try and prove that it "isn't that serious" after the 5th day of ending up in the ER from pain, and that showed I was heading towards acute liver failure. I was admitted and was given IV antibiotics for nearly a week before they attempted surgery. All I took from this entire experience was to learn how to educate and advocate for myself. I could have died if I listened to the doctors telling me nothing was wrong. Wish I'd had this video to help me figure out what the hell was happening to me.

Several years ago, I had symptoms of appendicitis, it was removed. A few days later, I started having symptoms of pancreatitis. After a week in the SICU, with an NG tube, I was discharged. Less than a week later I’m back in the SICU with an NG tube and pancreatitis. an ERCP noted the blocked bile duct, so I got a T tube. After a month with that, my gallbladder was removed. It was not fun.

Very well explained-retired CGRN. Loved assisting ERCP’s.

My mom had her gallbladder removed last year. I took her to urgent care then the ER. Turns out that she had problems for a long while and the duct was blocked for so long that the gallbladder died. It also ended up somehow spreading to her lungs and she had pneumonia for a short while and was on oxygen. I thought she may have had problems years ago but I don’t think she reported it to her doctors. She was also convinced at the time that it was Covid. She had surgery to remove her gallbladder and has healed well since.

My stepdaughter had her gallbladder removed because her gallstones had gotten so huge. Each was the size of a golf ball, and there were three of them.
What I'd like to know is, how can one prevent gall stones?

I had Gi issues when I had stage 3 heart failure. I had all sorts of issues just from one organ failing. They are all tied together!
