What we need is a 15x rotating card. The only catch is that the category is secret, you spin a wheel AFTER the quarter is done. "The Circus Circus Rewards Visa come through for me big time last quarter with ALL SPEND, but this time I only got PET BOUTIQUE."

As you know by now, I favor having fixed earning cards in my wallet over rotating category cards. However, the more experience I get in the credit card game, I can see the benefits of having a mixture of both. Especially since my overall goal is to get 5x back on every earning category possible. This was a great breakdown of all the different types of rotating category cards and you may have convinced me to finally pick up a freedom flex. But like we were talking about earlier, since I’m likely going to product change my freedom student to the OG freedom, I may test out how I like those rotating categories while I garden my 5/24 status.

Definitely important to use a card like the Citi Custom Cash as a dedicated credit card for one SPECIFIC category, so that you aren't getting 1x on a bunch of other categories. Great video as always RJ!

Thanks for the video! I don't care much for rotating categories myself. Not a big fan of these types of cards at all - even if I miss out on 5% cash back.

I currently use these 5% cards:

Discover It
Amazon card
Target Redcard
BestBuy card
Lowes card
CSP (5x travel via portal)
QuickSilver (5x promo for gas & groceries + 5x on hotels or auto rentals via portal)

Will probably pc my citi premier to a custom cash
And will apply for Flex in Q1 2023.

Personally, not a fan of the 5% category cards. Definitely like stability in my setup and don't want to have to deal with the random categories. But if you can 5X all the things, these cards are a must for the setup!!

I have 3 cards technically so I have the freedom flex, 1500$ limit, Discover it cash back, 2000$ limit, and technically target Redcard, 500$ limit🤷🏾‍♂️

I do like the rotating cards, but they're hard to go out of my way for when I don't know what they will be in advance. I do like the Citi Custom Cash quite a lot because I know it's always 5x dining (for me at least...I don't have the healthiest diet). And anytime I can get 5x on a major category for no annual fee it's great. The Cash+ is another card I'm thinking about getting before long. The 5x categories are mostly pretty small for me, but hard to get more than 2x on elsewhere. So I may pick that up after getting some of the bigger long term value cards.

I love my discover card and the rotating categories. This quarter is restaurant and PayPal which work good this quarter. Last quarter gas wasn't that big for me when you WFH. Lol. Always appreciate the content and the video buddy. I wish every quarter we could get these knuckleheads out of office for not performing and answering to the people that elected them. Uggh. Inflation at 9.1 percent and not stopping and with Brandon who is as useless as the color clear. SMH.

A bit of clarification, B of A has a quarterly ceiling of $2500, but category can be changed by cardholder monthly.

Discover It Cash Back 5% categories with the cashback match first year is insane, saving 10% buying appliances and stuff during the PayPal/Google Pay/Home Improvement store quarters is really tough to beat

Chase sends me an email each quarter to remind me to activate. I can actually activate it through the email so it’s pretty easy
