7-Eleven just announced it will be upgrading its stores to their successful Japanese counterparts, but will Americans who like myself see 7-eleven as the perfect place to get bags of chips with flavors that get invented weekly really come here for noodles, salads and ramen?

I love Japanese vending machines and shops. But the one big difference between America and Japan is RESPECT. WE HAVE ZERO

They won't last a week with NYC crime.

Where I live in Hawaii 7 Eleven stores already cater to Japanese because of Japanese tourists that come a lot and the local Japanese and the rest of the local population in Honolulu. It’s a wide range of people they cater to which makes them very successful here in Honolulu. Aloha ke

NYC is the wrong market target. Honestly, if they tried this near a military base, it's gonna work fine.

From Japan. I’m a consultant and I was in 7eleven’s project before.

7-eleven employs a strategy called “dominant senryaku(dominant strategy) and opens up multiple stores in close proximity so that these shops can support each other while reducing the logistical costs.

What I’m getting here is that since NYC shops are mass closing, 7-eleven has perfect breeding ground until they figure out how bad the crimes are, Japan is pretty safe place and we just don’t have a concept of “bad people doing bad things”

If you want to make them Japanese, you have to actually have respect for laws and prosecute criminals 😂

I recently went on a trip to Japan and the convenience stores there are amazing. Not only do they have a wide selection, but the food is also delicious. And the price is quite cheap too.

I watch an American woman who lives in Japan and her trips to 7 Eleven are my favorite videos. The food looks so good!

I still expect onigiri, instant ramen, fresh prepackaged meals and salads, egg salad sando, fruit sando, matcha parfait, mochi/dango/wagashi, melon pan, baumkuchen, bottled teas, Pocari Sweat, energy jelly packs, Calpico, ramune, and such in American 7-11 next year!

I’ve visited Japan many times and I often found myself enjoying meals at 7-11 (don't judge me! lol), especially their delicious onigiri. I would love to see more Japanese store items available in our stores. I admire the Japaneses respect for laws, their educational system, and the way they prioritize intelligence and common sense in their children’s upbringing. They know when it’s time for fun and games, and when it’s not, something that seems to have been forgotten by many parents in the United States. I’m also impressed by how clean their cities are. While I’m proud to be American and love our country, I wouldn’t hesitate to incorporate many aspects of Japanese culture into our own, given the chance.

America and especially NYC doesn't have the cultural graces for a Japanese-styled 7/11

I'm someone who has only been to 7 Eleven stores in Japan and in Honolulu. The 7 Eleven stores in Honolulu somewhat resemble the ones in Japan with a good variety of quick meals, snacks, and drinks along with some local exclusives. I didn't realize how different and disgusting the 7 Eleven stores were in the rest of the US. I think the upcoming changes will be good for the image of 7 Eleven in the US.

This is so interesting. My husband is a construction superintendent that oversees 7 Eleven remodels. Looks like he may be very busy soon.

I just arrived home from a two week trip to Japan and I have to tell you that the 7-Elevens were the most pleasurable shopping experience I’ve ever had. Not to mention the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever been in a retail establishment.

I'm honestly a tad worried that 7-11 has no idea what they're in for.

If the U.S. stores were like the ones in Japan I would shop. I don’t think they would be the same as our stores don’t throw away food for days. In Japan the food is replaced daily. Quality won’t be the same. Staff working at 7-11 in the U.S. are not customer focused you’re lucky if you even get a thank you.

I loved the 7-11s and Family Marts in Japan, and I welcome this change. It was great being able to trust the food from them like its a restaurant or something.
