I have recently come across some discussion on whether the Definitive Parkour Mod (by @henrypdt love you) makes classic parkour any faster. While this is an easy YES, I've seen people claim that no substantial time improvements are achievable without actively abusing several of the mod's features.

I'm here to prove this wrong on LONG COURSE 1, as I've seen it get used for this, though I don't think it's a great benchmark of mod performance for various reasons, the main one being that it's a boxed in, simple, checkpoint led environment - instead of a city, where the mod's ability to let you forge your path comes out on top. Still, with a decent bit of knowledge and skill, the mod is able to push finish times considerably.

There is SO MUCH that goes into throughly explaining the proper use of these mods in a way that will actually get through to people and help them understand why grounding of these moves is so important.

It's an uphill battle, but you're fighting the good fight. The community is lucky to have people like you who care enough to send the message.

Really great run that proves your point very well. It’s not about being faster, it’s about having more granularity and freedom in the way you want to move, although obviously being faster is a consequence of these changes

I can't do this mod justice like you can AD, I've tried it for a while and my god, there's so much more movesets and tweaks, it's like playing an entirely different game, I'll probably try the mod again after I fully mastered and understand the classic AC parkour and mechanics.

In terms of this kind of "platforms in space" level design, I think treating the mod as a purely technical toolset is much more reasonable because of how divorced the courses are from the historical context of the Assassin fantasy. I could of course see concerns about applying lessons learned into city gameplay. That being said, you came up with some really creative optimizations here, even bypassing the need for ejects entirely without creating momentum out of thin air

Well, AC1 and AC2 is the starting point
AC3 add animation for moving upward and down
AC Unity, many climbing movements that used to be divided into two manual operations are automated and have corresponding animations
Just when I thought they would continue to make their animation system better... There comes the AC Origin and ect...

2:21 could you have used a super hop here to jump on top of the platform, avoiding the upcoming wallrun? (Making the whole "mod being faster" debate pointless in my eyes, of course mods can be faster if all I want to do is change jump distance values to ridiculous degrees, pressing one button to avoid 3 canceld wallrun optimisations...)

My pc can handle even newer ac games but my accessories like mouse and keyboard are cheap and they prevent me from using this mod well (Can't press space+shift together) and many other keys 😢
Are there is a way i can change the keybinds for some keys?

Thanks for the showcase and in-depth explanation, I didn't catch your use of freeform until you mentioned it.

This mod is amazing even on a more casual level since you can just set the amount of granular control into only what you plan on using. Also I personally made the auto swing activate only on R1 so that I could complete some of the secret locations with vanilla inputs.

My only criticism is maybe have the text during the side-by-side comparison. appear for longer, as they seem to pass by too quick alongside the other text that appears, looking at the controller inputs and what each ezio is doing at the same time
