The ancient Hebrews did view the earth as flat enclosed by a firmament and the holy scriptures reflect that.

Heck just look at the rest of the same chapter! She is obliged to conclude the Earth has emotions and sings for joy. The sea and forest also sing before the LORD, and the fields also feel a jubilant emotion. Even in the verse she cited the Earth is commanded to "tremble before" the LORD. The whole chapter is full of this kind of poetic metaphor staring in verse 23. She only sees what she wants to see I guess.

If the earth is flat then how do you explain lunar and solar eclipses? You can't. It's literally physically impossible for something like that to happen on a flat stationary earth

Great video Mike! It’s always so annoying to see atheists and fundamentalist Christians emphasize the Bible to such a literal extreme when they realize that almost NO ONE in the ancient world read the Bible this way. Also looking at the cultural context would really help clear up a lot of these issues if they would just stop and look at it with fresh eyes. Fundamentalist Christianity and Anti theistic atheism truly are similar aren’t they?

People back then actually thought it was flat and it draws parallels from the Enuma Elish where Marduk created the heavens and earth from the body of Tiamat. It never started out as some metaphor.
