Most of the drivers who are on iRacing probably don't do well in real life. Jr, for example, who didn't win a single race while he was in iRacing. David Regan and Landin Castle use iRacing as a training tool. Look how much that helped them (hint: they're in or near the 30s in points)! For every real life driver that uses iRacing and does well in the real world, there is probably at least one driver who does very poorly. In fact, one Late Model driver used BeamNG.drive and NR2003 as training tools on POOR-QUALITY track recreations and has done better in the real races than what iRacing could provide.

Real life race strategies that work in real life will backfire in this simulator (eg: get fresh tires while the rest of the field stays out and you'll be no faster than if you had stayed out). I know because that happened to me three races in a row! In real life, I would have been able to charge to the front. But in this sim I was barely able to keep up with the tail end of the field after 2 or 3 laps. Tires overheat when they shouldn't and don't overheat when they should. In iRacing the colder the tires are, the more grip they have. In real life, the opposite is true. I'm just not convinced that this simulator is as realistic as it's claimed to be (or that it's even a simulator).
