This is a fantastically detailed video and you covered every point that could be made. It definitely is costly..but for the ability to race 24/7 and at least have one full split(with some exceptions) even at the most awkward of times, it is worth it to me. I held out for a year or so fiddling with AC, RF2, AMS2, and a LOT of time in ACC. I caved about 9 months ago and haven't touched another sim since. Today I went from a IMSA muticlass race, to a super forula race, to a mx5, all with little downtime, and good racing all arond. There's a LOT to explore, and definitely can be costly. I've probably spend somewhere in the 5-600 range at this point, but I have almost every road course(especially for the disciplines I drive), and all of the cars I enjoy competing in.

I'm 18 years old, currently studying a degree in university, and I really don't think I would be able to balance that and iRacing, but I am very passionate about this so I will try to get it once I am more settled

Good outline, your point about this being a hobby and not a casual game is very good way of viewing iracing

Id also like to add, the tracks are top notch, they're all laser scanned. The bumps on the actual track are in the sim.

Racing dirt track, the way the track evolves and the racing line changes theoughout the event is awesome.

I feel if you got all the dedicated time to practice and do allot of weekly races, you may get your money's worth doing IRacing. Myself, I don't have the time anymore to do a subscription based racing game and also buy the content to do a racing series. I will stick with my one time buy STEAM racing games and not worry about loosing money if I only can do periodic racing.

Ive had it for 1 year and already invested £400 into this service. Im renewing next week as its just a nice feeling game. Ive tanked my i rating and safety rating through tbh just bad racecraft disguised by other drivers wrecking me. Its taken a while to come to the realisation that i have a loooong way to go but at least the d class has nice races

Tbh at the start, the feeling of spending so much money isn't great, but after 1 year you'll barely buy anything because you settled on your favorite series, last two seasons i didn't buy a single track to complete all the races in imsa, and in this season I'm racing in loke 7 series and there's no tracks missing from my side. So yeah, it's worth it in the long run

I dropped my i racing subscription it's not worth it
AMS 2 and LMU is so much better

after you own 40 bits of add on content you will then be given a permanent discount on all content after, also if you buy 2 or 3 bits of content at at one time they always give a slight discount so try never to buy one bit of content at a time always buy in bulk to save some cash.

Great video. I’m going to do something similar. What screws did you use for the housing?

I'm new to sim racing with Dirt Rally 2.0, I still don't see the cost as unreasonable. It's a membership to a club of dedicated drivers with quality control.

I started racing on iRacing as my main game lately. It’s absolutely worth it for the overall experience you get.

The main and only iRacing aspect that beats Assetto Corsa is the iRating. Everything else in terms of feedback and server refresh rate and lack of detail on road/tires is seriously lacking. I dont think AC Evo will get ahead sadly. Both games are still fun tho. Especially as a rookie who only pays for monthly subscription.

I know graphics are not important to the sim-grinders out there, but I might be one of the few people that just can't get a full immersive experience in the archaic and dull graphics of iRacing. What is more insulting is that we know how much money people spend on it, so it's not that the studio doesn't have the resources to do something about it. Hopefully the day will come when we will get an actual iRacing 2.0 with modern menu, graphics and more detailed force feedback where you can actually drive on the edge like in real race cars, not be scared of it :)
