Its importent to remember that the F16 Viper is early access and this is what i was able to do in the current F16 Viper.

I love playing simulators, i started with Arma and then i saw DCS World. I also enjoy War Thunder , Battlefield , Ghost recon, Squad , Rome total war, Microsoft Flight Simulator and more. I also enjoy World War II games including il-2 In DCS World i found all the jets that i wanted to fly in a simulator the F 16 Viper , FA 18 Hornet , F 15 Eagle , A 10 Warthawg , SU 27 , Mig 29 , P 51 , Spitfire , AH 64 Apeche , Heuy and more... And if you will download MODs the options are endless: F 22 Raptor, SU 57 , A 4 Skyhawk , SR 71 Blackbird , Rafale, Gripen and the list goes on.

First off, great reversal in Round 2!

Re: the Tomcat and the Viper in a rate fight. The F-14 is performing close to bang-on to its charts right now after the most recent FM update (late October), after having underperformed across the board in the previous interation and overperformed in most parts of the envelope in the iteration prior to that. While the F-16 is too draggy at medium to high AoA right now (and not draggy enough at low AoA), be aware that if you rate-fight an F-14 with an F-16 at the speeds you did once the flight model eventually gets updated, you will still lose - an F-16 doing 55 knots below its best rate speed (like in most of the rate fight in Round 1) or 135 knots below its best rate speed (like when you talked about the F-14 outrating you in Round 2) *should* absolutely lose to a Tomcat doing its best rate speed, assuming similar loadouts and fuel percentages. You have a wide turn rate plateau, but it isn't infinitely wide.

Getting the F-16 slow, like you were, was the standard playbook for F-14 drivers. Okie talks about it, Slammer talks about it, everybody who's done it talks about it. Believe it or not, even an F-14*A* can beat an F-16 in a rate fight *or a vertical fight* if the F-16 makes the mistake of getting too slow. It is the only mistake you can't afford to make. Go into the merge drastically faster, and don't let him intimidate you with nose position to the point that you clamp down and lose speed. So long as you don't get slow (or give up a free reversal around the second merge, but that's a different issue) you'll have your way with him.

Also, if all else fails you have a much better roll rate than he does, so try and goad him into flat scissors :) If he's not really adept at mixing the rudder and stick to roll at high AoA, even better in that scenario since he's likely to have poor control of his plane in addition to his roll rate disadvantage.

After listening to Movers last vid, the Viper is grossly underperforming. Listening to two former F-16, and F-18 RL drivers, AAR a DCS dogfight in the F-16, and F-18 was very informative on where the flight model is lacking.

They were laughing at how weak the F-16 is in DCS. I think it was a Viper vs a Hornet. Apparently configured as they had it, the Viper should be able to hold a sustained 9g turn at 500ish knots all day. Its a very good vid to try to understand just where the F-16 is failing right now.
I really hope ED can get the Viper up to speed after all this time. There are SME all over the place that could help them out.

I've found the best rate speeds in the viper to be between 420-450. Ive gotten better at maintaining proper speeds and yet the viper is still being out rated by too many other modules, especially the hornet

Re the turn rate comparison - ie. expecting the completed viper mod to out-rate the Tomcat - does this include the Tomcat’s improved performance with flaps extended, or is it irrelevant? Thanks!

The problem is that the DCS F16 maneuvers like a fighter twice its size/mass would. I really hope it's FM is updated soon. It was designed to be a BFM monster.

Hey Longshot, great video buddy! Really fun to see the viper & F14 fight! Love both of those aircraft! Yeah I heard that F16 pilot on YouTube Lamone or something like that, say that the Viper module is t correct with the way it looses speed in a 9G turn, clean at corner speeds especially going down using Gods G! So I hope ED fixes it. It should do really well at 350-450kts clean w burner on! Hope they get it right cause it’s really an awesome module. Anyway great video as usual. Keep em coming!
