On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

That last Phoenix was actually kind of scary because it seems like you can see it more easily at night, and it looked like it was intercepting your path perfectly. I was waiting for a BOOM at any second.

What might not be apparent is just how narrow and close that fight was. That last Phoenix missed only because of a FLAWLESSLY executed evasion. Even the slightest mistake in that evasion would have resulted in a hit. Then at the end the AIM-9M went for the flares, possibly some luck involved, and that was very nearly a double KO (not sure if that last AIM-120 was even evadable or not).

Every time GS does an F14 video, my heart cries for the fact it was retired. Such an absolute BEAST of an aircraft. The arguably the best of the 4th gen. The Navy NGAD better be based on the same principles that guided the F14's design.

I was an Aviation Ordnanceman aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt. As an AO working in the missile magazines I mainly dealt with Sidewinders, Sparrows and Phoenix Air to Air and the AGM 88 HARM. I can remember crating up all the Alpha models and sending them all out to receive the Charlie variant. Same with the Standard ARM radiation missiles. Sent them out to make room for the HARMs. We actually kept some because the legacy Hornets didn’t all have the ability to use the HARM missile. Hearing all this talk about the Tomcat brings back a lot of memories

GS, you should try the latest F15 vs the F14B. The engangement from a BVR fight would be petrifying.
