On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

I always love your Tomcat fights and I'm glad you brought the 'B' this time. I always thought it was a real equalized with the F-16 and F-18 if you know what you're doing.

The description that comes to mind is "Aluminum Cloud"... It's a term I've heard USAF pilots use to refer to both the F-14 and the F-15...

You should do the US vs Russia thing again but with the rule that you can't choose the same jet twice so it's more interesting.
Do like 5 or 6 rounds so you can have different engagements.
Also make it bandit unknown so you have to choose your jet carefully.

Quick tip for the Tomcat: When you are in a slow speed high AOA position reverse your roll inputs. It will feel a little bit slow but it will make you do some awesome maneuvers.

1980s Israeli F-15 Eagle: “Hold my beer”




If you didn’t know, in the 80s an Israeli F-15 2 seater collided mid air with an A-4. In the collision, the F-15 lost its right wing. The pilot miraculously managed to control the aircraft all the way to a high speed landing at the air base 10 miles away (snapping off the emergency tail hook in the process) It turns out the wide fuselage provided 60% of the lift to keep it flying. That combined with a higher speed kept the aircraft controllable. Oh and if you’re wondering, the A-4 pilot ejected and was fine.

DFS the fun is the knife fight in a phone booth. In training the real drivers do the same thing, merge and fights on. Now in a real conflict, there would be AWACS, and every effort made to make the fight unfair as possible and eliminate as much of the OpFor even before they knew there was a fight.

I think its more accurate to say the F16 is "mediocre" in the one circle compared to "some" of its contemporaries.

Like in comparison to the F-18, and russian front line stuff circa mid/late 80's? Yeah... the Viper is at a disadvantage in the one circle.

But then again, the F18, Mig29 and SU27 are absolute MONSTERS in a one circle... and they were all designed with instantaneous turn and high AOA in mind.
The F16 wasn't - the F16 was designed with the OTHER side of the coin in mind - energy retention and sustained turn rate - its a testament to just how brilliant the design of the little fucker is that its THAT good even in a one circle... and it can haul bombs, and makes a dandy litte SEAD platform.

Seriously - if i had to name the "BEST" all rounder combat aircraft since the dawn of the jet age? I think I'd have to give it to the F16.
