Here is Part 2 of my version of replacing the timing belt, water pump and tensioner on a 2005 Honda Civic. This procedure should be the same for 2001-2005 Honda Civics but refer to your manual for confirmation.

Here are Links to Tools and Parts Used in the Video:

I will not be liable for any damage to your vehicle that might arise from watching this video and applying what you see here.

I think this is probably the best video I've seen on this task. I like how he talks calmly and he seems relaxed, believe it or not that helped me because I was nervous, this is the first time I've replaced a water pump!

Awesome work man ! I just picked one of these up with 110k miles for $400. It has had hail damage which does not bother me. It runs like new and has been maintained well. But at 110k I need to get this timing done. Looks pretty intense. My mechanic quoted $664 to do it all. Water pump, belt, tensioner, cam seals and all related parts. I may go that route since I got the car so cheap. But I have enjoyed your video

Ya, for that one bolt on the alternator, just lift that side of the engine a few inches and you can get the bolt right out :) Put a jack with a LARGE piece of wood under the oil pan (oil pan isn't meant to hold the engine up so you need to spread the weight around to avoid denting thepan...)

first time with a foreign car Honda. Too much just to take a water pump. Ridiculous. But anyway great video thank you.
Back in the days with my Buick, 1-2-3 water pump out no problem. 10 min job

Thanks for the video. Question: What did you exactly say at 9:39? "Given you ... " Do I just need to ensure that all the marks are aligned or do I need to make sure that #1 valve is at the top position? Appreciate the help!

I broke Craftsman breaker bar. If you lucky you release if not you break. To be sure, only impact tools will work.

Great video but i have a question... What about if I have to replace only the water pump.. Do I have to line up the timing mark on the camshaft?

Does my car have to be level to do this job? Or can I just lift up the one wheel and be good? Please let me know because I only have 2 Jack stands

Did you remove the ABS module? Mine is right in the way

Why do they make it so hard to replace? That sucks especially for a belt that's going to need to be replaced at 100, 000 miles. Because if you wait for it to break the engine is done.

My top alternator mounting bolt is stripped and keeps coming out from the vibration of the engine. I tried using lock tight to secure it but it continues to come out. Any suggestions?

How do I know if the timing belt is tight enough? Seems kinda loose.

Do you have a Part # for the harmonic balancer tool?

Hi,  thank you for the video, it is really good and I've used your other guide before and found it very helpful! I have the same engine in my Honda Stream 2002, and I seem to be having a strange noise and lots of vibration coming seemingly from the AC compressor. I would like to ask you something: It seems in this video that the belt for the AC compressor also runs the alternator? Is there a way to disconnect the AC compressor and render it unoperational until I have it fixed?
