The brown cheese with the red packaging from Tine is actually a mixture between goats milk and cow milk, the brown cheese made purely from goats milk has a blue packaging.

I adore liquorice. Its really fabulous as a tea also because you do not need to add sugar. Its sweet on its own.

Brunost isn't really a "snack" in Norway, though it is definitely a very versatile ingredient, giving extra depth and complexity to sauces and so on. It would be interesting to see you use it, and other Norwegian specialities in a challenge of some kind!

Brown cheese isn't a snack, it's a topping for slices of bread... Try it with your preference of jam (blueberry jam is the traditional one, I prefer strawberry myself) on a slice of bread for the proper experience!

Also used for other stuff, like topping for waffles and such.

For the brown cheese I reccomended a fresh loaf of flavour neutral bread, get a slice or two whilst its still warm and spread some butter on it, it should be hot enough that the butter melts as you place some thin slices of the cheese on top.

Typically this is done with white bread, making it a very naughty and somewhat unhealthy treat, but quite tasty. If you want to up the naughty and make it excessive, some enjoy adding sweet jams on top, or like my father sometimes does, sprinkle of sugar over the melted butter before the cheese slices.

my dad used to pack me brown cheese and jam sandwiches for lunch as a take on a pb&j - I definitely recommend eating it on bread or a Norwegian waffle with a berry jam!

Brown cheese.. is not a snack. You put it on bread and sometimes biscuits or potato tortillas, and is commonly known as “pålegg”. Though I should add that I am guilty of just eating it on its own.

For Christmas I usually melt down the cheese only to add more butter and sugar. This is known as “julebrunost” (Christmas brown cheese)

Not sure any of these are really what I'd call "snacks" - but the cheese certainly is a very uniquely Norwegian thing! I don't really eat it much, myself, but it's very common as a topping on bread; toast a slice of your preferred bread, spread some butter on it, and top it with the brown cheese - done! Optionally, you could add strawberry- or raspberry jam as well. Sort of the Norwegian version of peanut butter and jelly, I suppose.
