Sparkleminnow. I have fished it for 30 years, and it has saved my bacon on more than a few occasions. As well, my PB on rainbow, smallmouth, king salmon, and wiper. It's like American Express...don't leave home without it.

As always, enjoyed the video. You are correct one could write a book on flies you skipped .🤣
I predominantly fish warm water so woolly buggars are my confidence fly, though I recently started bead flies. So many choices! Slack line my friend! 👍🤣🤣🤣

My # 1 go to fly, a bead headed pheasant tail soft hackle. Never been skunked when using that fly and even more importantly, I have always caught more fish than my sons in law with it!

FUN video Tim - thank ya! My pesonal best brown trout took a Walt's Worm.... the pattern was only the hook, bead, thread, and hare's ear dubbing...done deal! I'm feeling inspired now to tie a couple rows of the X-Caddis! Appreciate ya!

Great list, Tim. My drying patch always has some Sparkle Duns on it by the end of the day. I don't leave home without a box full of them.🙂

Thanks Tim! You reminded me I need to tie some more Walts worms.
A couple of my fav's.
'Missing Link' (14-18). Probably my all-time favorite
A flying ant pattern like a 'Fat Angie' (10-12). Perfect for a dry-dropper setup.

Those are 2 that I pretty much never hit the water without, great for prospecting or picky trout.

Tim, I caught a few rainbow trout in a pond with a Gasolina. I just thought I'll give it a try and it worked. Thanks for the content! Cheers, Mike

This has me thinking, what are my top five flies I always want/need with me.

Good list. Mine are Peacock herl Wooly Bugger, X-Caddis, Hare's Ear Nymph, Pheasant Tail ( American and Frank Sawyer version) Adams and when all else fails Griffiths Gnat. I will add Walts Worm and the France Nymph. As or Eggs and Worms, those are already in my junk fly box. Right now I am looking for a 6 wt rod but I can't seem to make up my mind on what one to buy. It was a how lot less confusing 45 years ago. Fished Penn's Creek a couple of weeks ago.

Do you ever fish anything besides trout/salmon in the NE? Like carp, pike, or bass?
