Foldable Kayak that I use in my videos:

Did this today on my baitcaster. Caught 3 pan sized crappies and a few good sized bluegill with the fly. Also, my first bass of the year on a 4" Texas rigged bubblegum/watermelon yamasenko! Your videos have helped me stay positive during my most recent skunk-spell. Thanks man, keep up the great work!

The technique is called " Float and fly". When the fish are extra finicky add a tiny fly ( any version) on a short leader(6-10") tied to the hook of the first fly. This is especially deadly when the first fly is a popper. Fish that only come up and look at the first fly will hit the second.

I use a regular spin reel setup with 6 lb line an no leader.

I cast it just like the fly fisherman do, you gotta have bout 10 foot or so of line hanging off, then wave it out into the water, once your fly is on the water, open ur reel an let a few feet more line out an flip the bale back down.
Then you’re gonna yank the rod back an forth with fly in the air just like the fly fisherman do, an get the fly to land even further out into the water, then open ur bale an let more line out and do it again in same manner til you have fly where you want it.

This video is cheating an that bobber is noticeable by the fish.

I usually get a hit literally every cast using my approach.

An as I’m typing this I got an actual fly fishing reel setup in the mail.

Fish on!

Ive been doing this for years and trying to explain it without a reference. Thanks for the video.

This is the way i learned to fish. I use a clear bobber, a swivel, then a 6 to 9 foot leader depending on where i am, then match the hatch! Or use black wooly buggers. You can catch anything this way!

Not a fan of casting bubbles, if you're not able to cast way beyond the strike zone the odds of spooking fish are too great. Not stealthy. My favorite thing to do is remove the rear treble hook from a jerk bait and add a dropper, using different sizes and buoyancy depending on the size of the fly and where in the water column you want it like floating, sub surface and weighted. You sacrifice casting distance but worth it

You can also use like 2lb line and tie a a fly it won't cast as far but still works just as good

Orrrr try to buy a rod and reel combo for 20 bucks they even come with some flies but it’s better to get your own or tie them I did this when I started fly fishing and have never gone back to gear fishing (unless I’m going for lakers)

As someone who only catches bass as a predator fish I would LOVE to spend an afternoon catching those pickerel!

Learning to fly fish is also a good way to get the benefits of fly fishing. It can be done pretty inexpensively and is an entirely different experience to fishing. You can have a blast catching panfish or really anything.

I used to fish a lot with my uncle back when I was in elementary school. I started to get back into it recently with my daughter and I’m starting to remember all the stuff I forgot about for so long. I totally remember using water bobbers now!

It works grest for pan fish. I use this technique for my kids so they can learn how to use lures and so I have cut bait for kitties😉

You should look into some British floats (bobbers), they are an art form over there!
They're a lot more natural looking than something out of a bubblegum machine!

I use a torpedo bubble when I pack into the Mountain Lakes works great

My buddy does that up to oak orchard Creek during the brown trout steelhead run. He'll dead drift a wooly bugger or egg sucking leech under a slip float set at a certain depth and hammer big lake run browns one after another.

They are also called casting bubbles if anyone is interested in trying this technique
