I stay in The Grand Hotel In Llandudno, North Wales owned by Britannia Hotels and it's the ninth consecutive year that Britannia has come bottom of the pile in the annual survey by consumer group Which? It's received some very bad reviews on Tripadvisor and some bad press over the last 12 months, BUT is it as bad as some people say? Let's find out!

My late grandmother and father stayed here in the 1930's and 1940's when it was apparently a luxurious and prestigious hotel. How sad that it has come to this. Britannia are a byword for shameful management that treats customers like cattle.

This guy is a one man walking Trip Advisor. I don't even know how I stumbled onto channel. It must have been a late night binge browse, but I've watched a few of this guys videos and have now subscribed. I wish the channel all the success for the future

Another one bites the dust (anything owned by Bitannia). It is time Britannia was banned from buying all these once beautiful hotels and not looking after them. Just for greed.

I live here, there are photos around the area of what it used to look like and it did look like the grand hotel lived up to its name. These days it is avoided by most due to its condition. There are talks of it being purchased soon and being closed and completely renevated alongside a huge extention so hopefully this goes through

hmmm... the website for this dump states that the hotel offers guests a "particular holiday feeling". what feeling were they aiming for ? crushing disappointment maybe? a feeling of wanting to be anywhere else? or perhaps a more tangible feeling of grime and discomfort. Great video Tim, thanks for enduring for our entertainment.

Nothing more depressing that the haunting sound of Bingo to half a crowd in a run down hotel.

I absolutely love these old buildings but how this hotel chain has allowed them to become in this amount of disrepair is such a crying shame. I imagine how grand and posh they would have been whilst in their prime and how the guests must have been very posh and well off to stay there back in the day.
Another great walk around, thanks Tim and family 👍

I last stayed here 30 years ago when Butlins owned it.
It was an absolutely beautiful hotel back then, the entertainment was first class but it looks exactly the same as it did 30 years ago, only worse!
The scaffolding looks like it is holding the hotel up!
The postcard you showed is the exact same one they had 30 years ago when it was owned by Butlins!!!

I really love these worst rated series, great job Tim.That hotel is vile, shame, it would take millions to restore it to its former glory x

I've never seen such a depressing hotel room. The bathroom makes me want to cry.

I always feel bad for the people working at the reception of these places cuz they're obviously not at fault for how broken down and dirty these places are but I bet they get lots of comments about it

I've said this before, but these old Grand Hotels are just too big with too many rooms. Back in the day when labour was a lot cheaper, they would probably have had hundreds of staff looking after the building and guests. They just can't do that now. I also dread to think what the cost would be to completely renovate such a large hotel, it is probably not even economically viable! I don't fully understand why Britannia even buy them, or what their long term intention is! Great review though, and yes, Llandudno is a truly lovely place😀

When Tim makes disparaging remarks you know it's bad! And £75 for the privilege! Such a shame - it could be so nice. All these old hotels deserve so much more. Thanks for staying in these places so we don't have to!

I stayed at this hotel many years ago when I was a child and it was absolutely stunning. We had a room at the front with a balcony, and we dined half board. From what I can remember we had a really great time. Such a shame to see it in the state it is now. Be nice if someone with the money could revamp it. Keep the videos coming.

Makes my blood boil every time I walk past this hotel as each time the condition worsens and no one seems to care.

I'm more and more wondering what the story is behind these Britannia hotels. The impression I get for each of them is that _someone_ along the chain of responsibility cares about getting it back into shape, but they're not getting the (financial?) support they need for structural works, so they can't do much more than patching things up here and there.

Perhaps it would be interesting to do a "the story behind" sort of video at some point, and dive into where the problem lies?

16:50 That's insanely concerning how damp and cracked the walls of that hotel are. That's how the condo building in Miami collapsed in 2021. I wouldn't stay in that hotel even if it was a free stay.

It actually pains me to see such beautiful buildings like this in states like that. It would take alot of money to fix all of the damp issues and companies won't put that kind of money into them these days. A lick of paint would do wonders for it. That room with a new coat of paint, box of that pipe, clean the windows and fix the bed would do me for a weekend or a few days stay. It's such a shame

£75 for that tiny room? I guess what you're really paying for is the seaside location.
It's a shame how such a grand looking building from the outside has been completely neglected. Windows are absolutely MINGING! 🤮
SORT IT OUT, BRITANNIA!

It used to be such an iconic hotel with a brilliant setting, I remember boats to the Isle of Man pulling into the pier, worked near the little orme and in those days Llandudno was the place to holiday, the town is still worth a visit and a great gateway to snowdonia
